Found that N9 contain no option to use xmpp. This is really dissappoining compare to N900 I have before. How can I add xmpp account?

Does anyone know if one has to run these commands as user or as root? Does 'password=  ' mean that one should NOT enter the password, or should it be inserted here?

From the looks of it, it should be
stringassword='your-password'

Add the single quotes around your password if it has anything dodgy in it..

It shouldn't require root access, either.

Also you should add <display name> per mc-tool help:

mc-tool add <manager>/<protocol> <display name> [<param> ...]

Thank you for your hints. I found a similar posting there: http://wiki.peregrine-communicator.org/display/web/FAQ. Unfortunately I was still not able to set up a xmpp-account on my N9. If somone has acomplished this task, would you please give a more detailed instruction for non-developers?

At last I succeeded to set up  my jabber/XMPP account on my Nokia N9. I did it exactly according to http://wiki.meego.com/Migrating_from_N900_to_N950#GTalk_and_Skype_account_setup

Luckily you are not urged to use Google, but you can replace the "gmail" and "com" parts with the data of your provider. I for an example inserted here "swissjabber" and "ch".

Finally started Peregrine and there was my jabber account.
