After an updating of my Nokia N9 with PR1.2 my battery starts draining super fast.
Device Idle starts to consume 5 times more. With PR1.2 it takes only 19mA, but now it's 92mA!
Is anyone has the same problem?

Hi,
I am still waiting for my OTA (or NSU) update here in Norway, but I have this problem on pr 1.1. In my case it is a proces called Smartsearch, that uses more then 90% cpu, and my power consumption varies from 150 - 300 mA in idle state. Please check it, and give feedback, I was told that this issue was solved in PR 1.2. I hope this is correct. I suggest you download programs that you can use to check what is using the battery and program that tells you which proceses takes up cpu. This may help you to find out what the problem is. I hope that it is not smartsearch proces,

PR1.2:
Avarage Active Consumption: 307mA
Avarage Idle Consumption: 92mA
Before (PR1.1):
Avarage Active Consumption: the same (~300mA)
Avarage Idle Consumption: 19mA !!!

And I can't find any Smartsearch process on my phone.

How about /usr/bin/messageserver? This can be a battery drainer too.

Affecting me as well after the update!
Resource monitor shows that those processes load the CPU:
messaging-ui -prestart
tracker-store
call-history -prestart
Battery Usage Monitor alerts with drainage with idle consumption rising from 22 to 94 mA

Here is my syslog file:

... and my syslog.old file;

Can anyone give me any ideas what could be wrong?

Finding lots of SMARTSEARCH related errors I googled it and dropped everything in the /home/user/.cache folder, as someone suggested. Let's see if it helps.

Dropped the cache, rebooted, looking at "top" for the past five minutes - no overloading of CPU anymore. Seems like it helped. I'll keep an eye on that and will see if it really helped in the long run.

WARNING! DANGER!
I lost all my contacts and messages with dropping this folder ![]()
LUCKILY I backed up that folder. Seems like I have to restore that and look for a more precise solution than just dropping the cache folder.

I have the same problem on 2 phones with the same processes.

To be more precise that suggestion I found while googling was to drop the .cache/tracker folder, which seems to be the cache of the thing called smartsearch (although I have to confess I don't understand very well what it is).
I'll restore everything except /tracker folder and will report.
I want to warn you not to do what I write here. If you do anything - you're doing it at your own risk. I'm more or less into linux but I'm not N9 specialist and I'm just experimenting trying to fix things.

I have the same issue after PR1.2 upgrade.
SYS usage is permanently over 25% in resource monitor, average idle consumption is 95 mA with 3G connection switched off. The phone is lagging even on basic tasks as scroll in the contacts.
2012-02-28 10:32
I couldn't restore the contacts from that backed up folder and from a phone backup either.
So I have to make a full reset now I guess. So don't follow my example ![]()

Full reset helped indeed but of course that's not the best way to do it ![]()

Reset->Restore Settings was enough for me. Now Idle consumption is 15mA.
It will preserve all user files and does not require long restore, just a few tweaks.

You got to install the "Battery Usage" app. Just search it in the OVI shop
