After update to PR 1.1 my headphones are not detected automatically anymore, when plugged in and out.
If I want to use them, I need to plug them in and reboot the N9.
When done, I have to reboot in order to use the loud speakers instead.
Any idea how to fix this?I have tried re-flash and reset.

Hey Corkdk, Welcome to the Nokia Forums!
Have you looked inside your N9 audio jack and checked that it has no dirt or particles lodged in the jack that could distrupt connection, try blowing into it to get anything out.
If its still not working, you will have to take it to your local Nokia Care point as this is a hardware issue and you will need a specialist to diagnose the problem, and they will be able to fix it for you.
Best of luck! I hope this helps, please get back to me if you get it working again.

Hi Sheldrick,
Thank you for your reply. I have tried cleaning the jack, however with no result.
I dont think it is a hw problem, i think here is a module error in either ALSA or Pulseaudio.
When in alsamixer via devel-su - i can see the headset levels if i have booted the N9 with the headset plugin in. Also music player pauses if i unplug the headset duing playing a song. So ALSA is sending the information. However ALSA dont tell the device to re-direct the music to the loud speakers.
I have contacted my local Nokia Care in Denmark, and are awaiting their reply or guidance.
I will continue the search for a solution, and revert IF any solution ![]()

Additional, if headset is plugged in duing boot. And after that, with headset plugged in I receive a SMS or call, the sound will go out in loud speaker.
But if i then unplugs and answer the call, the caller can not hear my voice. However my voice go out in the "earspeaker" istead.
Hope above is clear, and I am very sure this is a sw bug now.

Hi Sheldrick,
I gave up.
Even after a "devel -su -" / "apt-get remove a*" and a warm reflash, it didn't work.
I have now send the phone for rep, and will revert if they discover something worth sharing.
Thank for the support.

I also have this issue with some Razer Moray headphones. The only headphones that seem to work are the included ones.
In a case of the completely bizarre, I also have the Nokia Lumia 800 and those headphones, which look identical to the N9 ones, do not work with the N9.
Is this a known issue? Is there an adpater that makes every headphone work etc?

I have received my N9 again after i sent it in to be fixed.
All Nokia did was to make a software update and didn't even bother to test it. I have testet it with 6 different headphones, where 4 of them was working before my update to PR 1.1.
I have now got BT headphones, and here the N9 guts the music.
Looking much forward to PR 1.2

Same situations here, only the included headset works, N9 doesn't detect my other headsets.

^ As I say, mine wont recognize even the included headphones at all. :-(

Update, I found some that will work, so N9 probably just doesn't recognize certain head plugs.

i am having the exact same problem as the OP. Unfortunately in in Ireland and bought the phone from expansys so cant just return it to a Nokia centre.
the phone works no problem when headphones are plugged in and phone is rebooted, but then i have to reboot after to get loudspeaker to work.
have i just wasted €600 on a phone ? Really frustrated about this.
All Nokia phones shipped to and sold in any country of the European Union plus Iceland, Norway, Switzerland and Turkey are covered by the European Limited Warranty, which means that warranty repair services are available in all of those countries, even those where the model is not commercially available.
Software repairs can be carried out as normal in any of the above-mentioned countries, but customers should be aware that hardware repairs may experience longer than usual turnaround times because spare parts might not be held in stock in countries where the device is not officially offered by Nokia.

I have the same problem. If I boot with the headset inserted, audio and voice come in and out only through the headphones. If I boot without inserting the headphones, audio and voice come in and out only through the phone mic and speaker. I'm currently living in Italy, but I've bought the N9 in Singapore after someone, there, has stolen to me my previous phone. Can I have the opportunity to access in any way to the Nokia Customer support from Italy ? Or, if this is a well-known software (?) issue, it will be fixed in the next PR1.2 ? Thank you to everybody for any help you will provide to me !

I had the same issue since pr1.3
Check the page 7 of this thread : http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=80006
there's a deb file that installed a small app.
It won't fix the issue itself but give you the opportunity to switch manually headphones/speakers. So no need to reboot anymore ![]()
It worked on my N9 16 Gb
