Re: N900: All telephony functions are disabled and No IMEI

I found a simple solution: I got an iPhone! just one hardware for the whole world and support whereever in the world you are. I just got to many senseless reasons for not having my N900 fixed that I ended up with the competition

Re: N900: All telephony functions are disabled and No IMEI

[ Edited ]

The problem started yesterday.

Rebbot is not the solution.

Flash the device and updated some how, still issue exists.

Also not any issue with SIM or PIN Number, even trying SIM replacement as this SIM is been used from last 4 years.

As per Nokia, this error actually means "SIM CARD NOT AVAILABLE (card not inserted or PIN Code not enetered)" however its the fault with device.

Re: N900: All telephony functions are disabled and No IMEI

Hello,

Few days ago I had the following error for my Nokia N900:

"All telephony functions, including emergency calls, are disabled due to a communication error. To recover, you might have to reboot the device".

Of course, reboot didn't help. Also when you try to look up for IMEI there is NO IMEI in phone

Congratulations for Victamize Users

Solutions:

Open back cover take out battery and sim

press sim jacket slightly

then insert sim with small hard piece of paper

insert battery and then open

your problem will be solve

Insha_Allah

Every one is frustrated with same issue and no 1 get proper response from NOKIA TEAM. I paid 22,500 Rs. for N900 after 1 and half year its showing this kinnda error and NOKIA SERVICE center saying that I;ve to pay again 8,000 Rs. to repair this problem.

Re: N900: All telephony functions are disabled and No IMEI

[ Edited ]

I bought it in USA march 2010.

N900 is really unbeatable mobile i ever seen with features and great for Software developers...

Since last week 2012 Aug, i'm gettng same error " All Telephony Functions....", screen attached.

Recent things i did on my N900
- 1 month before , facebook photo upload function disabled.

- Installed (nitdroid Android 4.0.3 (ICS)) and uninstalled
- 2012 aug 4th evening, dropped mobile just from 2 feet.

-  2012 Aug 5th, i'm gettng same error " All Telephony Functions....", screen attached.
- flash for n900 ( no use, still same error )
- Kept papers to give more pressure for SIM  ( no use, still same error )
- Called to few Nokia care and few are not aware of N900 and few are not aware of this issue

- changed all nework sim , all gets sames error
- Nokia care informed around minimum charge 5,000 Rs (INR), they can send me handset to Nokia company for fixing this issue.

Searched plenty of forums post, so far no solution now. What i feel is, Nokia has coded this message inside N900, so they already knew for some cases to display this error message, then why they dint inform to any nokia care about it.

Next i'm going to try installing MeeGoo on N900, lets see atleast diff os might get better result or what ever we try, if same error then lets go with another mobile :smileyhappy:

Note : Nokia has announced Extended warranty for mobiles thru nokia care in India, so guys when ever u buy high-tech nokia phones, extend warranty to get new mobile replacement :smileyhappy:

According to my thoughts, Network Antenna which is inside Nokia n900 might damaged...

*note; removed mention on unofficial tool for flashing the N900

Re: N900: All telephony functions are disabled and No IMEI

Hello,

Few days ago I had the following error for my Nokia N900:

"All telephony functions, including emergency calls, are disabled due to a communication error. To recover, you might have to reboot the device".

Of course, reboot didn't help. Also when you try to look up for IMEI there is NO IMEI in phone (neither in system->About nor using *#06#).

Also it is not SIM issue as SIM works fine in my old E65.

After some research from different newgroups it seems quite common issue for N900 and in most cases the only solution was a new phone from nokia after sending for repair. As my phone is just out of the warranty (1 year, 2 month) I would want to receive some answer from Nokia representives:

1) If there is some solution for this issue (besides new phone)

2) if not - Does Nokia really suppose this is normal issue?

3) if not - why there was no recall for N900 and replacement for this specific hardware issue.

I really don't believe that this is normal behavior for 700$ phone as now it seems only very expensive WiFi device.

Regards,

vinod kumar.

Re: N900: All telephony functions are disabled and No IMEI

Today, the phone took a long time to boot, and a banner appeared during the boot up (blinking white dots) saying:

"All telephony functions, including emergency calls, are disabled due to a communication error. To recover, you might have to reboot the device".

Worst possible error upon N900 which can mean that SIM holder detaching from motherboard.

Re: N900: All telephony functions are disabled and No IMEI

Is this site belongs to Nokia or not...... I am surprised there is no response from Nokia Tech support team. I am also facing the same problem after exactly 1 y and 3 months of purchase. I liked it a lot, every one around me envys me - because only I had it around my team, but now its just a brick with some audio visual entertainment for me. I am angry, I was long time customer /fan of Nokia mobiles. I am leaving this line. Just now I bought another mobile. Bye Nokia

Issue was acknowledged as a manufacturing defect and whilst device in warranty it was supported as long as feasible with spare parts being pretty scarce, although replacement with a working device of commensurate value was hardly an adequate response in view of specialist nature of this handset.
