N900 Other Callers Can't Hear...

Hello there please help,

All callers that I've been called using my N900, they all complained that they can't hear me but I can hear them very good. Is this a problem with my mic or hardware problem? I did max out the volume button on the side, I even tried with speakers and have to screaming on my phone in order for other caller to hear me. I've never got this problem before with my n73 since I got N900 I started get lot of complain that they can't hear me.

N900 with new firmware PR1.2 USA released.

Thanks.

Re: N900 Other Callers Can't Hear...

It sounds like a Microphone Failure.

In which case your only solution is to take the handset to your nearest nokia Care Point

There was a stage shortly after release where a few people were reporting microphone issues which turned out to be a failure of the microphone itself

Re: N900 Other Callers Can't Hear...

I am more inclined to believe this is a problem with the Nokia N900, as I have experienced this problem for several weeks now.

At first it was just odd calls, so I would switch the phone off, take the battery out for a minute or so, then switch the phone back on and reboot it, which at first did seem to help for a day or so.  Now the problem is permanent, I have times where I can hear the caller but they can't hear me, then other times I can't hear the caller at all but they can hear me.

I have found just now if I switch the loudspeaker on I can hear the caller, if I switch the loudspeaker off again, I can continue the call without any problems but it is not acceptable for a phone of this calibre to have problems like this, particularly with the price I paid for it, not that long ago.

I have been trying for some time for Nokia to help solve some of the problems I have, seeing as it is supposed to be still under warranty but I just keep getting emails saying they are looking into it.  I have been totally dissatisfied with the service from Nokia, even though I have had quite a few Nokia phones in the past, I definitely would not purchase another one.

Re: N900 Other Callers Can't Hear... Headphone daemon

Hi,

I am having problems with callers hearing me, its been getting worse.

In the previous entry the switching from speaker to mic (during the call) solves the problem.

So I decided to un-install the headphone daemon (which I rather find handy in a open office)

    It was headphone daemon 1.9

This 'appears' to have fixed the problem, I will confirm this over the next few days.

Dave

Re: N900 Other Callers Can't Hear... Headphone daemon

I have now solved this problem, when I am on the phone for some time, my hand was catching the volume control, as it is located where I hold the phone.  I had not realised it at the time but I was actually turning the volume down myself by hand.

I dont get it. You accidentally pressed the speaker volume but how could it affect your reciever or microphone volume?
