As far as I'm aware, it's only a case of entering 2 lines in X-Terminal: Up to 9 Screens on N900.
There's also a discussion on maemo.org about it too: maemo.org
Now, has anyone ever thought about being able to scroll the home screens VERTICALLY? ![]()

It's two lines *after* you've replaced a core binary.. see step 1..

It is funny..
Droid: Ha! My android phone has 5 desktops, beating your N900's 4 desktops..
Maemo: 9.. 9 Desktops
Droid: W--what?! ![]()

I have successfully implemented a 9 Screen / Desktop setup on my N900. I have also included instructions on my website if anyone is interested or see this link:
How to have 9 desktops on your Nokia N900?

no need for hacking or anything like that, its very simple, download and install matan's modified hildon-desktop from here (its a lot better than the priginal one ) http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p=856923&postco
than install this package (it was in the devels, but for some reason they took it out ) http://uploaded.to/file/af5qrp .
open this app (its called desktop+ ) scroll right, and choose the number of homescreens you want, click yes, and thats it .

worked great with me, anyway to get the extra homescreens using my way or the x-term way you need the modified hildon-desktop by matan, google it, and download it at your own risk .
@skoobyman i didn't understand .

good to hear that it worked with you man.
@moradeeb here is what you should do to install it via x-terminal , first of a.. you need to install the package rootsh, download the file and place it on your n900 (MyDocs) .
than open x-terminal and type : sudo gainroot
than type : dpkg -i /home/user/MyDocs/hildon-desktop_matan_2.2.140-1+0m5_armel.deb
2.2? The latest release is 3.3

So, now it seems we can have the background images associated with the extra desktops too?
Right?
That will be useful( otherwise desktops without background image was no fun and rather useless).
