strange. seems to work fine on my device.
maybe check to be sure that they are installed still, in case you need to reinstall the maps.
maps/menu/manage maps/
there you should see the maps in your device, if there is nothing there then tap the menu/add maps and select the maps to install.
just in case, remember that the maps are not the satelite views and that view type requires an internet connection. the maps that are installed are only the standard virtual type.
also, i cannot say for sure that the downloaded maps include the 3d data for buildings. it may require you to have internet access for that too.

I am currently playing with two N9 devices:
PR1.2 ==> 059J1V4: RM-696 NDT AUSTRIA BLACK 64GB
PR1.1 ==> 059M8W6: N9 RM-696 Country Variant Switzerland CH White 64GB V1_COLOR
And of course I am monitoring the codes as well
And no maps issue at all so far for the PR1.2 device... Maybe I didn't catch the point here... but of course maps should be installed or maybe updated if already installed.

The PR1.1 for the 059M8W6 Switzerland White was released on February 21st 2012... means three months later than start of PR1.1 in November 2011 and one week before start of PR1.2.... And I am still alive
And I am aware that it might happen again...
That's why I wanted to be on the safe side with the black one

you do need an update.
but it is Vodacom holding you back. you still have the pr1.0 original release. there is no listing of your product code for pr1.1 or pr1.1.1 or pr1.2.
at first, i thought your product code was wrong.
i hope they give you one soon.
settings/reset/restore settings (this will reset any settings you made but not delete any data. sometimes this will fix minor issues like this)
sometimes that will work. otherwise, you may have to reinstall the os.
and to be sure that that works, i would actually backup all the data off the MyDocs and then clean the device first with settings/reset/clear device (this will completely wipe all data off the device)
