Just got a new N900 and it's running on PR1.1, but it has an OTA update for 20.2010.36-2.002. My other one, flashed to global, doesn't have the '002' at the end, what's the difference between them?

its the version number, for example my old finware was the midle east one, it had 003 at the end .
the.002 means that its the usa version .

Bummer, i want global not USA. Guess i'll have to flash after all

there raeally isnt a difference in the versions between global or usa as the phone still has the quin-band chip and the global supposedly supports more languages.

the india firmware doesnt have skype.

being uk/glob/usa version, it is loaded

quick question re flashing, i've flashed 1.3 global to it but haven't done the emmc as it was in a clean state when i got the phone. That's safe to do right? Just flash the OS and not the emmc?

yes it is safe. Happened to me earlier on my sisters pc where the EMMC would not flash but I switched the phone on and it booted normally
