Open contacts, tap top of screen to bring up button menu, select "My Information".. it'll show you your number in the list of info

i thought that also but when i checked there was no number there, just a blank field

I have another related problem: my phone was pre-owned and it shows the previous owners number in the Mobile field. I've done a factory reset but it didn't make a difference, the other number is still there.

go to my information in the phone book then press the top of the screen for the drop down menu and select edit

Already looked at that but no can do... only the Name and Last name fields are editable, the mobile field is greyed-out... I can add another field but the original Mobile still remains, like it's a default the same as E-mail and Ovi.

are you in the uk and is it an ex vodafone contract phone?

Yes, UK, but it was on o2. And I'm using my o2 SIM.

ok, with vodafone they tampered with its software so there was a few minor issues, not sure if this was one of them tho.
i don't know if O2 have tho.

i'll have a look around xterm to see if i can find a way to edit it.

is it upto date? look in settings/about product and post the version number

It is very simple. Even if you don't have balance in mobile account.  CAll to Customer care and provide the details they will tell you your mobile number....
