hello, anyone notice that the gallery on nokia n9 stop showing preloaded images after pr 1.2 updated. when you import images from computer or download from email, they dont show up in gallery, it only shows images taken from camera...that odd...

Can any body confirm that, PLEASE!!!

after updating to 1.2 I cannot save any pictures taken with apps (byed from ovistore) into the gallery. Only those taken with the N9 camera can be saved and viewed. Sophy cam, Action cam etc don't function...

the pictures you take with the camera are in the /home/user/MyDocs/DCIM folder.

the pictures (jpg) files you save from email, etc, are stored in the /home/user/MyDocs/Pictures folder.



there are 5 icons in the gallery at the bottom of the screen.

the far left "gallery flower" will let you see all pictures on the device including video taken with the device.

the second from the left, "pictures" tab will only let you see what is in the DCIM folder

the middle "star" tab will show you your favorited pictures

the "3 people" tab will show you all the pictures associeated by the face recognition tags you set up.

the far right is the menu.

Thank you for the answer. I did not help... Before updating to 1.2, everytime I took pictures with Action Cam, Sophy Cam, Effetica etc I saw the pictures IMMEDIATELY in the Gallery. I did NOT have to go to the dephts of the phone (DMC etc - excuse my bad English) to find them! And the icons below in the Gallery, yes, I know the differences. Anybody else experiencing the same issue? Now I am able to take easily pictures only with the main (i.e. Nokia) camera application...  Greetings; kvala.

I even reinstalled 1.2, but this was worthless... But it is not only cam-applications i cannot use; among others, Shortcuts, does not even open..., Could this be a problem regarding those applications, i.e. should THEY bi upgrated? Kind regards, kvala.

I Have same problem... Will we wait until next softwar update ??? I use FOLDER GALLERY , but this slow and very bad program to see photos.

I seem to have the opposite problem, In the Gallery app I can see the images that came with the phone,but not the ones taken by the camera! Facebook app though seems to be able to see both. Also I check with Filebox app, there is a folder named DCIM with all the images taken by the camera. Looks like the settings/entry for the default folder address for the images taken by the camera is corrupted/wrong, but I can find where i can chage it.

Now, after receiving my N9 back from NokiaCare, I am happy to announce that it is working again! And without faults! They installed 1.2 again (I was told that their formatting procedure differs from the formatting procedure you can make by yourself ; they even delete the OS), and now pictures do appear in the gallery, 'shortcuts' , 'ActionCam* etc. behave as they did before. But I could NOT install my backup made before bringing it to Nokia Care; all phone numbers, notes, settings etc  are now waiting to be installed manually. And my old pictures have to remain in my computer...But I am thankfull, that it is healthy again and that I can make new pictures, which are immadiately visible in the gallery...  regards, kvala.

Hmmm, anybody confonted with this problem?....forget shortcuts (sheerwater) - I found an application called 'quickbarcontrol 1.0.0' - it at least does its job and is IMO much better! regards, kvala.

I am having same issue with my N9.  Pictures taken with apps other than "Camera" are not visible in "Gallery".  I had to download "FileBox" to find/view my photos.

It seems that we N9 users already abandoned by Nokia/meego. These VERY small things they cant even solve. I Love N9 but I curse NOKIA to fall down below sea level.

SOLUTION: I had this problem and got it solved without flashing my N9, though a full flash would also solve the problem. The problem can be solved by resetting your tracker software, which will then place both the pictures you take with the N9 AND saved pictures (like .jpg files) into your gallery. WARNING: BACK-UP your phone data (like contacts, messages, music, etc.) before trying any of this. IT WILL ERASE contacts, messages, and playlists. My songs did not erase, but better safe than sorry. This solution will require use of the terminal and thus activation of developer mode, but only a few commands are necessary, so just relax and be careful to type in the commands correctly.

Activate the terminal by going to Settings -->Security-->Developer Mode and actvate Developer mode. After it finishes the initial activation, a bunch of developer tools will appear with a button to install next to each of them--DO NOT install the tools at this time. Now, check the bottom of your applicatiion homescreen and you will see the terminal icon. Good job.

Now, go to the OVI / Nokia store and download an app called 'Filebox'. You need to find out where your pictures (that should be in gallery) are being stored on your device so that you can move them to the right place. A basic understanding of the N9 Linux-based filesystem is helpful, so Google 'Linux directory structure for beginner' or just follow along. The goal I would suggest is moving pictures that you would like displayed in the gallery to the Pictures folder (called a directory) located at /home/user/MyDocs/Pictures/ this is easy to do with Filebox.

If you don't know where your pictures are, then ask where you got it. If downloaded, check /home/user/MyDocs/.downloads (note that you must choose Filebox option to 'view hidden files' in the application's menu located in bottom right corner of the screen.) Also, you could look in /home/user/MyDocs/Downloads/ or try the /home/user/ directory. These are the most popular locations for my photos and .jpg files in my experience.

Once you have BACKED UP YOUR DATA and MOVED all picture files to the Pictures directory listed above, you are ready to run the command to fix your gallery as good as new.

Sorry but i have found a solution.

I have 330 mb of jpeg  picture that come from some Nikon D100/200/700 and  from  NOKIA N8  camera .

After a lot of experiment with mac osx , Nokia link , file manager ecc ecc

And gallery app.

The only solution is send the picture from another device ( my N8)  to the N9  over a  simple  bluetooth connection

In this mode i can see the PICTURE from N8 and other jpeg file  in the gallery app on N9

Easy ,slow, stupid, but workx

Perfect!! ..i´m from Mexico. I had the same problem.. and this was the solution.. thanks!! One more thing: NOKIA is very bad to leave Simbyan & Meego platforms

It's not working on my n9!!!
I did open the terminal and type everything as follows.
However,after I reboot my phone and open the gallery,
nothing was showen...even though I put lot of pics on my n9...
