Hello All,

On Nokia Asha 302, after providing all the needed details in mail for exchange, after Validating Credentials, dialog box it just returns error "Unknown SSL error". Have anyone of you encountered this error? How to resolve this.. Based on suggestions from Nokia Support via Live Chat, have even tried to install the root certificate (which is already present on the device).

Same settings when used on Nokia E series phone running Mail for Exchange everything works fine.

I have exactly the same problem. Asha software v14.92 and Mail for Exchange v1.05.

I have entered all the required info needed to connect. On validating the info, I get error 'Unknown SSL-error'.

Same settings on a iPhoneGS does work fine.

I have bought the Asha 302 specifically for the Exchange synchronization.

Correction. The error I see is 'Unknown SLL-error'.

Downloaded security certificates from my exchange webmail site and installed on the phone using '.html'
   thawtePrimaryRootCA.der, ThawteSSLCA.der, wildcard.hillebrandgroup.der

Entered all info to connect Mail for Exchange. Alas on validate, the same error as before.

Asked my Exchange Admin about this issue. He replied that our organization is using a wildcard certificate for Exchange and that I have to tick an option on the phone/program to 'accept untrusted certificates'.

The question is : where can I find this option for Mail for Exchange?

Currently in contact with Nokia Care in the Netherlands to analyse the cause of the "Unknown SSL error".

Today I have received an answer from Nokia Care in the Netherlands.

self-signed wilcard certificates are not supported by S40 devices.

the employee responsible for ther MfE-app reported

“seen a such error because a self-signed (*wild*) certificate is not supported on  Asha device,

  even you import /   install it manually -> you’ll get an error.

 So far we have not seen any case where MfE was successfully configured on Asha using a self-signed certificate.”

There are no plans at this time to enhance the MfE-app.

Dispite the fact that the documentation ‘Mail-for-Exchange-for-Nokia-Asha-Datasheet-pdf’ says that it will work:

 compatible self-signed company issued certificates can be installed with Nokia Suite.
