Enable IMAP setting on your Nokia E5 ------------ this is working -----------
1. on your Phone Select 'Messaging' > 'Options' > 'Settings' > 'E-mail' > 'Mailboxes.'
“If you have never set up email on your phone before, select 'Yes' to define a new mailbox. If you already have other mailboxes, select 'Options' and then 'New mailbox.'’
2. Select 'Start' to begin the setup wizard.
3. Click on any one mail Yahoo or Gmail or Hotmail (for Ovi mail you need go to other…)
4. If you have clicked on Gmail*** it will ask email address ( '@gmail.com') but before moving forward enter you email address as (‘india@abc.com') instead of (‘india@gmail.com') {enter ABC instead of GMAIL } and then > your password then select 'Next.'>
5. Screen will appear with three (Mail Exchange and POP/IMAP and Lotus Notes)
6. Select ' POP/IMAP' and then 'Next>
7. Now put your correct Email address (eg. ‘india@gmail.com’) > Same on User name > then Password>
8. On Mailbox Type -------Select IMAP4 > and following are IMAP setting ---
Note – for Yahoo and Ovi mail you can follow the point 3 to 8 (enter ABC instead of YAHOO or OVI)

IMAP setting for Gmail ---
Enter 'imap.gmail.com' as the incoming mail server
Select 'SSL/TLS' for your security (ports) and define your port as '993.'
Enter 'smtp.gmail.com' as the outgoing mail server
Select 'StartTLS' for your security (ports) and define your port as '587.'

IMAP setting Yahoo mail ---
Incoming Server - imap.mail.yahoo.com
Incoming Port - 993 (requires SSL)
Outgoing Server - smtp.mail.yahoo.com
Outgoing Port - 465 (requires SSL)

IMAP setting OVI mail ---
Incoming IMAP Mail Server:
Server Address: imap.mail.ovi.com
• Secure connection: SSL (IMAP4S)
• Port: 993
Outgoing SMTP Mail Server:
• Server Address: smtp.mail.ovi.com
• Secure Authentication: None
• Secure connection: SSL
• Port: 465

Worked perfectly, I had been trying for days using the info on gmails own pages, and had tried to get help in a local 3 shop too, but I followed these instructions to set up my gmail account and it now works, thanks

The setup for Gmail worked for me too... had been trying them since i purchased the phone about two months ago...trying the yahoo settings now.....cheers

To the Nokia guys: you should send this instruction to all care centers, because people there don't know what to do and just send people away with this e-mail problem.

I've used the settings mentioned above and it works fine with the incoming mail. But the outgoing mails stay in the outbox n cont get sent. Is there a different port no i can try? I found something regarding the nokia middleman and the ssl settings but not enough details on how to do it...
Would be of grt help if u could sort this out. I cant mail on the move!

Thank you I've spent ages trying to get a broken gmail mailbox reset. Using your instructions I've setup a new gmail mailbox which works perfectly.

It looks that I am the only one that cannot make it work! I am getting a "Imposible to login. Try again" If I do it asks my password again but after a while I get the same message. I tried with LAN and WAP.

yeah. im having the same issue registering the yahoo and hotmail. for the past 3days..Luckily my fren show me the nokia forum and i follow the instruction. The shortcut given in the manual nokia book doesnt help at all. Even the shop when i ask them to set up for me, they also cant do it till i need to show them the way!!!!.
IFinally i can log into my emails using WIFI..

AWESOME MAN!! I have beenstruggling with the setup on my new E5 for the last few days and finally I resorted to the web and found my solution with you. "@abc.com" did the trick I must say

I've been struggling with this ever since I got my phone, I had just about given up. Why does nokia not give you this information? I had no idea what POP and IMAP even were (and to be honest, I don't care that much, I just wanted to be able to do my emails!) Cheers again. ![]()

Awe SOME! I had ovi mail set up; I got my free yahoo account done too. I'm going to have to re-try gmail as well--then I don't need separate apps-- it's all in my email my messaging app. This was done on my E71-2 (U.S. version--unlocked). I wish I had known this a year ago! Mad Props on this
