Hi, Ive had my phone for almost 2 months and cannot for the life of me get it to send or receive mms...

The saga so far...

I have spoken to vodafone at least 4 times, they have sent me the settings every time, i have taken out the battery, and the sim card, and let it "update" on the network but all to no avail.. last week I took my phone to a nokia repair centre (carphone warehouse) and they flashed ? the software, so now I can receive mms, yet I still cannot send ( this was last week) Today I went in again, and the guy played around for almost 30 mins but again i can receive but not send, and he thought maybe it was a sim problem and to speak to vodafone.

So this evening I have rang vodafone, gone through the whole resending settings process again, and guess what? I still can't send mms.

I can receive mms, and I can surf the web.

Any suggestions, short of chucking the phone out of a moving car would be greatly appreciated!

have you tried sending an mms from another phone with that sim?

also, have you tried sending mms on the 8800 with a different sim?

if the sim itself will not let you send mms then it is a network issue, if the phone just doesnt send mms get the phone replaced/repaired. by trying different sim in different phones you will see which is which

ok, my dad is also on voda and I put his sim in my 8800 and I could send a mms from his sim. When i put my sim in his 6230i I couldnt send mms (as usual) although again I could receive no problem...

when i switched phones back, and i sent a mms from my dads 6230i to my 8800, i just got a text message saying to log onto the voda live studio etc, this happened twice, yet when i sent an mms from my 02 phone(yet another one!) it came through as a multi media message not a text message. my dads 6230i can mms fine to my o2.


dad voda 6230i mms to my O2phone= ok
dad voda 6230i mms to my voda on 8800=rubbish
my sim in dad 6230i mms to my O2 phone=rubbish
dad voda 6230i mms to my voda on 8800= text msg with log on to...
my o2 mms to my voda 8800= mms received fine.


So.... I figure this could be a sim problem? I rang vodafone with this information, and I need to call back tomorrow to get a new sim card sent out...

Any ideas why this would happen ?
The fact that I can receive and not send mms is driving me nuts, I would have thought that it depends on the settings? that if they are wrong then none should work? but in this case one is functioning and not the other?

ok, so this means there is a problem with your sim or the service from the network as you can send an mms from your phone with your dads sim.

you can take the phone in for repair, but like you said you have done this and it has not helped. you are better off contacting your network now with this information and see how they can help you out.

Spke to Vodafone this morning, and they are sending out a new sim card, so once i have that will retry and post again!

i hope this works for you, but please bear in mind that even if it still does not work after you have got your new sim, speak to vodafone again.

if you have to speak to them again, ask them to check to see if mms has been provisioned properly on your account. if they sound hazy or non-comittal ask to speak to tech support - or whoever deals with this sort of issue. this way you can be sure to find out if you have mms provisioned properly

Ok, new sim came last night so got it all set up and I still cannot send mms from my phone! and I made sure that mms is definitley provisioned on my phone...

I even went to the vodafone help website, and had the settings resent to my phone, but to no avail.

The phone has been flashed, so now I'm thinking I should have it sent to nokia for twiddling?
