I'm reading my ovi.com emails with a Lumia smartphone and with Outlook. I constantly fail to connect to the IMAP and SMTP server and thereby do not get or cannot send emails. Webmail works fine, but especially sending emails from Outlook or from Lumia is currently impossible. Mails just get stuck to the outbox folder and both Outlook and phone keep asking for the password, as if my password was wrong.
This has happened randomly after the Yahoo transfer, but now it is happening on daily basis. I haven't been able to send emails from my Lumia in a week. The settings both in Outlook and in Lumia are correct, have checked several times. Usually when I leave my phone alone for a night, in the morning it has synced the inbox, but not the Outbox.
Anyone have similar problems?

What Outlook version are you using? How are you setting up the email on Lumia? Are you using Advance Setup, Other account or Nokia Mail?
I think the issue has something to do with your email server settings. Tried setting up my Nokia Mail on a Lumia 800 using Nokia mail under Email+Accounts and Other accounts - No problem. Upon checking my account, I have the following email server settings:
imap.nokiamail.com:993:1
smtp.nokiamail.com:465:1

E7 belle refresh.
tried sending mail using the built-in email client. the recipient receives it, the message is in the sent folder of the device, but NOT in the server.
following are the settings i tried:
1. imap.mail.ovi.com 993
smtp.mail.ovi.com 465
2. imap.mail.yahoo.com 993
smtp.mail.yahoo.com 465
3. imap.nokiamail.com 993
smtp.nokiamail.com 465
can you pl help?
with gmail it works fine.

No, the settings are fine. They work one minute, but fail the next. Recently they have been failing more than working. It's obviously something going wrong in the servers. Maybe spend some more money maintaining them? As it stands the Nokia mail service is next to useless, probably time to move on.

It works quite OK with Lumia now, as I do have the same settings you provided (imap/smtp.nokiamail.com with SSL on port 993/465). However, the IMAP connection from Outlook still constantly fails with same settings. Reading emails has worked sporadically with imap.mail.ovi.com but sending not at all in weeks now.
I'm using Outlook 2007 SP3.
Is the username supposed to be of form user.name@ovi.com, or only in format: user.name?

By the way, is there some kind of timeout applied when accessing ovimail from several locations? I think I read something about a 10 min timeout after accessing or something. I mean I'm accessing Ovi mail from Outlook, from Lumia and from web constantly, whichever agrees to work. Could this array of different end points have something to do with this?

I was relieved to find it wasn't just me experiencing these problems. I use a lumia 800. I have checked and rechecked settings. Uninstalled and reinstalled all to no avail. Its simply not good enough in terms of service. Additionally there is no communication to advise that there are server problems which would at least let us know that it is not down to the end user.
It would be appreciated if someone from Nokia could tell us what is going on and when it will be fixed.
As it stands I will have no option but to change to a new service. Most inconvenient.
