I have a 6230i but I am unable to access e.mail messages using the message menu ( I can access via wap ).
I have an 02.co.uk e.mail account which i would like to access quickly via the phone. I got some settings from the internet which I downloaded to the phone.
However, if I try "retrieve messages" I get the message "subscribe to GPRS first".
I cannot understand this as I am subscribed to GPRS and use it to access the internet, with which I have no problems.
I have been told different things from o2, depending on who you talk to within that organisation. Some say that this service is not available with pay as you go, others that my phone is faulty and some that just scratch their head.
Does anyone have a definative answer?

I was with o2 Pay & Go, and wanted to use email (I moved from Contract to Pay & Go so couldn't work out why it didn't work)

Anyway, I contacted them, and they told me the secure connection needed for email is not supported on the Pay & Go tariffs, so if I needed email, I would have to change to a Pay Monthly...

Which I did, and it's been fine ever since.

I don't suppose you know if anyone does a sim only contract that is really geared towards web browsing and e.mail. i would only use it for e.mail and web so really begrudge paying for calls and txt I wouldn't use.

I'm pretty sure most networks do SIM only deals, it's best to get in touch with them and ask. There's quite a lot of deals aimed at web & browsing, but I don't know who would be the best at the moment.
