Hi upgraded myself from Nokia E63 to E5.
Im having a problem with my email setup in E5.
I tried installing my gmail and rediffmail a/c on my E5, it got installed but not working, i.e not getting connect even after I go to options and select connect. Therefore cant send or receive mails.
Then i tried removing both the mailbox's, but everytime I trying doing this, I get a message "You must be connected to remove a mailbox. Try again later"
I have even gone to my Nokia Messaging site, removed my old mail accounts and added the gmail and rediffmail account once again.
I have set the access point to my gprs connection and able to browse other site in my browser but I dont kow why I am facing this problem with the new phone.
I am unable to find the option of removing Nokia Email service as well.
Can someone help me on this ?
Having the exact same problem. I couldn't set up my email to begin with, but then I tried the @abc.com instead of @hotmail.com solution which is floating around the discussion boards. Now I am having the same problem as you. The email will not connect. There is a red circle with a cross through it in the top right hand corner of the email screen.
I have tried emailing nokia support, but they have been no help. Firstly they told me to do a soft reset of my phone... which I had already done several times. The second time I contacted them, they told me to make sure I had packet data, which of course I have, because I was able to use the internet. Clearly they assumed that I was an idiot.
I have no idea what to suggest, I am becoming more and more frustrated with nokia, and from what I have seen from the discussion boards, so is everyone else having this problem. Surely nokia should realise that they have a serious fault in their application?
If anyone has any other suggests, I am open to them.
Thanks in advance.
Only replying to say - yes, I'm having problems as well. Messaging kind-of works, and so - like most people I imagine - I put up with it and hope Nokia fixes it one day. I did try contacting customer support, but after the autoreply that said my question would be answered in 2 working days or whatever, I never heard anything more.
It would be nice if it worked - but I have a feeling Nokia aren't really that bothered. I replied to a thread about the N8 to say I was having the same problems with my E5 and I had a really fast reply from a Nokia employee who misunderstood and thought I had an N8. Clearly if you've purchased a rubbish cheap phone (like the E5) then Nokia aren't interested - but if it's a high-profile phone like the N8 they'll be all over it.
Still - the E5 is cheaper than an iPhone or a decent Blackberry, so I guess it's true that you get what you pay for!
