File format not supported!!!!!

OK, not happy had this nokia 6230, phone for a while now but could only download music from my network provider at a small fortune, so i thought i would transfer some music from my computer to my phone...... well that was over a month ago.... i have read up on this on line, i have tried formating memory card, in the process loosing everything on memory card. still no joy. so i read in several places that it may well be a faulty memory card, so i thought what the hell i will buy a new one and upgraded it to a larger memory, memory card, STILL DOESN'T WORK..... Someone out there must have had the same problem, i'm pulling out my hair, i just to put music on my phone. i've done it loads of times on my previous nokias 6230 +6230i, why won't it do it now??????? HELLLLLLLLLLLLLPPPPPPPPP Please...
Thanks in advance(hopefully)

Yea... we really need more information here to go on...

What format are the files in that you are trying to transfer?
Where did they come from?

If you use Nokia PC Suite you'll be able to convert files from a CD into a format that is supported by the phone.

Re: File format not supported!!!!!

Hi all,

My 2 cents.

Only AAC and M4A music format works. Use Music Manager from your Nokia PC Suite (make sure that you have the latest form the Nokia Web site, 6.80.22) in order to convert your music in the right format.

Now, I am experiencing some issues with the M4A format on my 6230i. The file title shows on the phone Music Player, but Music Player goes in error when I try to play. Same from the library.

So try AAC instead, which works fine except that then you will not see the file/song name in the Phone Music Player then but scare characters instead :crying:

So make a choice, do you want to see what you are playing ... but not be able to play it. Or you don't care about the tittle but just want to play the song !!!!!

I am getting frustrated myself to be honest.

Oh! Other tip, get your self a PC acrd reader to transfer files on your MMC card, it's much faster than using the phone either way.

Re: File format not supported!!!!!

I dont understand why the 6280 music player can't read AAC files downloaded useing PC suite. After all, some of the pre-instaled tones are in AAC format and it not only playes them, but gives you the track title as well and not the silly little black squares. Also, some of the tones are in MXMF format, what's that, I've never heard of that before. Also, I found the easy way to get the music player to give you the track names is to convert your music to Mp3 format and then just drag & drop it to the memory card useing the File Manager in PC suite and not the music tranfer part as this will convert the files back to AAC. Do this track by track if you want your music in some kind of order otherwise you'll get them listed ramdomly.
