Hello.
The most irritating thighs in Nokia N8-00 are issues with music player.
Most people want to organize music they like. With N8 built-in music player You just can't do that. Music player is designed to auto-organize music for You. It seems to be pretty cool on the beginning but when You have lots of albums and mp3s finding or playing the right music is just difficult.
Also when You transfer data from PC and disconnect Your phone while transfer is in progress strange things happens. Music Player remembers albums which are not fully downloaded and from this moment on You have no way of getting rid of them. Forever.
Trying to delete them raises an exception saying that 'FILE IS CORRUPTED. OPERATION CANCELED'. That causes music library to show ghost empty albums with no mp3's in them.
I searched forums for help on that particular issue and found that You should connect to PC, open folder 'private' and delete some cache files. But unfortunately I cannot locate folder 'private'.
I hope it will be resolved with future software upgrades.
Besides those issues I am happy with Nokia N8.

I have the same problem. It doesn't matter how I transfer mp3 files they appear in music player (tagged nicely, album, cover is ok) but can't remove them. If I select "delete" option in music player... music files are removed, but the "ghost album" (nicely said) is still there.(and empty folder in file manager. If I remove everything with file manager it's the same. FILE CORRUPTED in music player. Could anyone help please. It's really annoying.

Here is the fix by purging the music cache:
1) Enable viewing of hidden files and folders on your PC.
2) Connect the phone in "MASS STORAGE" mode to your PC. This is the important step, otherwise you will not see the private folder. To ensure your phone is in mass storage mode, go to Menu>Settings>Connectivity>USB>Mass Storage.
3) Open the phone directory, on mine it comes up as "Nokia Ovi Suite"
4) Open the folder "private\101ffca9" and delete the file called "harvesterdb.dat"
5) Open the folder "private\10281e17" and delete the two files called "[101ffc31]mpxv3_1i" and "[101ffc31]pcv6_1i" ).
6) Disconnect the phone from the PC and open the Music Player on the phone. It should refresh immediately.

It's too bad that this bug has existed for at least 3 years across numerous Nokia models! Would have been really nice if Nokia had provided a fix, or at least a menu option to rebuild music database by eliminating the three files as described by cessnapiper, above. This without having to connect to a PC and go hunting around in "Private" folders. I'd write a small app to do so, except that I'm familiar enough with the write-restrictions on the Symbian platform to know that it would be a major headache to obtain permissions to modify the Private folders.

Found it! Follow the instructions above, but not only on the "nokia ovi suite" but on the storage card too. You´ll find the same maps and files on both. Remove the mentioned files from the maps "private" and the emply albums will be gone.

hans23,
Are you saying that Nokia Suite does not back up/recognize/restore playlists created on a Nokia phone?
That would be unfortunate.

@ cessnapiper, I'm not sure where I'm going wrong my player was working fine this morning except one of the tabs wasn't opening giving that error, I did a back up, restore and now the whole thing gives me that error, when I open an individual music file directly from the location the music player works. my problem is when I change my usb setting to mass storage it was reverting back to pc suite when i tried opening my phone via pc suite, in "my computer" on the pc it shows nokia phone browser, and both mass memory and memory cards as removable disks, there is no option of phone memory, my phone is a nokia belle refresh, nokia pc suite 7.1.180.94, nokia suite 3.6, and the pc is windows 7
