I suddenly have an audio and microphone issue with my Lumia 920 which I've had for two months.

Regarding the microphone, people are suddenly having a tough time hearing me speak into the phone in conversation.

Regarding the audio, the noise from playing video is working, but I can not hear any music.  The music is running, but no sound.

Very frustrating problems.

You could try rest device first and go from there,back up your files.
Go to settings,about phone and reset,if this fails return to point of purchase or a nokia care center.

I think Nokia is taking this issue way too lightly.  It is now a rampant problem with the 920.  People just cannot hear me when I make or receive a call.  I do not have any protective case that would interfere with the microphone function etc.

I have searched the issue - and it is becoming a common problem that people have a hard time hearing you on a call - unless, that is, if you use speaker phone function.

Is Nokia going to address this issue - or keep treating it as a non-issue?  I have requested a replacement from AT&T - but I anticipate the same issue coming up with it.  I would rather not have my phone replaced - especially if Nokia/MS could issue an update that solves this issue.

My phone just started having this problem too.  The people  I call state that they can barely hear me and that my voice is breaking up.   I’d like to know if this has been looked into and if so is this a software or hardware issue?

I am having the same issue since last few days. Folks on the other end just can't seem to hear me. The phone seems to work fine when i'm on speaker mode though.

I have been having same problems with my phone since getting it in late february. Sometimes it's ok and yes it works perfectly on speaker, but on normal calls the mic seems not to be working properly. Maybe due to noise cancelation? My phone is up to date and hard/soft reset doesn't help it. There needs to be a update to fix the problem. Too many people are having the exact same problem.

Same here. I called ATT customer support, they asked me to hard reset my phone. I eventually did that and ran into the issue where the phone got bricked (the spinning gears). I wasn't able to use it for almost 2 days, when it suddently started working again. After the hardware reset, I've got mixed feedback about the sound quality (some people say the voice quality is better, some say it's still bad and they can't understand me).

I'm facing the same issue with a recently bought Lumia 920 in Brazil. A swap procedure is ongoing but I really hope the new device would be properly working..

I think I found a solution. I cleaned up the microphone located at the top of the phone (there was some dirt that accumulated in the tiny holes at the top of the phone). I think that was affecting the phone's ability to cancel the ambient noise while on a phone call.

Nobody has complained about not being able to hear me since I did that (a few weeks ago)!

This theory can be confirmed by covering the top microphone with your finger - the other party will have issues hearing you when the top microphone is covered.

Swapping my phone out today, see if it makes any difference, this problem is so annoying, hope there is a fix coming soon!

Swapped out my phone @ an ATT store all is fine now, microphone works crysta clear
