I'm really stuck (and stressed) with my new Lumia.

When I make or receive a call the screen goes blank (black) so I can't cut the call

Am I doing something wrong?

Do you mean screen blacks out when phone beside your ear due to "proximity sensor" ensuring that phone pressing upon your ear does not accidentally initiate anything on touchscreen, or that this happens irrespective of where phone is?

Its like it wherever it is though it does have a cover on it. 

Where abouts is the prox sensor?  I could try taking the cover off.

Was indeed the prox sensor, thanks. Protectve screen cover was affecting it. So now phone works but phone will get scratched.

Hi, I am having the same problem as wonder banana is, except, the issue didn't resolve when screen cover removed, it blacks as soon as I press call, therefore unable to hang up, choose an option or loudspeaker, etc. Any ideas?
