Few questions for Lumia 710 owners

Hello!

I'm planning on getting a Lumia 710, and before I do that, I have a few questions:

1. Is the home screen available only in vertical format? If you hold device horizontally, those tiles don't rotate?

2. I'm using Nokia 5230 at the time, and it's music player has equaliser, does Lumia 710 have music equaliser? If no, maybe you know if it will have it in future?

3. If I will start skype [my friends will see that I'm online] and then go to other application. Since the app will be running in background, will my friends still see that I'm online, or will I go offline, and again online when I'll enter the app again?

I'm considering this Lumia or Nokia 700 [Symbian Belle], and I really don't want to regret my decision :smileyhappy:

Re: Few questions for Lumia 710 owners

I am using Nokia Lumia 710 since May, and i can say it is a very great phone.... But with your inquiries, i guess those features you are asking for is the limitations the Windows Phone OS can't do....

Live Tiles don't rotate
Music Player doesn't have equalizer.... But i am hoping 7.8 update will going to include this....
There are apps that can run in background, depending on how the app developer create the application, but sad to say skype don't run in background, MS sucks....

But as a Lumia 710 user, it is a great phone on the other hand, but due to OS limitations you may miss some features that other phones have....

There are tons of features in Symbian Belle which you won't get in WP7.5. If you buy a Lumia 710 thinking it should be an improvement over a Symbian phone because it is newer Nokia phone you will be bitterly disappointed.

Re: Few questions for Lumia 710 owners

It's a really tough decision at this point: should I buy Nokia 700, use it for a month, and then maybe some low budget WP8 would come out that I would love to have, or maybe even 7.8 update would include features that i really need, or should I do my best and wait at least one more month to find out what future WP's will get or have. I really want WP, but I really don't think I should buy anything, that can't offer me what I want.

Belle is okay, but symbian, correct me if I'm wrong, is a dead mobile OS. It won't get any updates, meanwhile WP7.5 will. Symbian's number of app's made will stop growing, while programmers of WP7.5 apps will be able to create apps for both WP7.5 and WP8.

WP7.5 is as dead as Symbian. Apps written for WP8 cannot run on WP7.5, so which sane developer will waste time and effort to write today for WP7.5 when no one be releasing any more WP7.5 phones ?

Wait for WP8, it's a no-brainer.

Re: Few questions for Lumia 710 owners

I watched some WP8 reviews on youtube, and people were saying, that apps made for WP8 will work only on WP8, but apps made for WP7.5 will work on both WP7.5 and WP8.

I might try to do my best and wait for WP8 to come out and pray that Nokia will offer a low budget device for ~250$.
