Today I got very dissapointed with Nokia drive, maps, and also bing maps! While rthe old navi system on my x6 worked perfectly. It brought me right to the street name and number. That was not the case today with nokia drive on my lumia 710. I almost didn't come to my new job. I had to rely on my memory driving there only once 72 km's through a dense highly populated city which I didn't know!!So I think you'll understand my frustration.

The problem was NOKIA DRIVE's ONLINE search didn't give any results, neather nokia maps. I still don't understand why you can't find a street which is downloaded to the phone for the country you use in offline mode. One of my major reason for buying the nokia lumia was it's previous (symbian) navigation sistem. If there wont be any improvements in the future i don't think I'll be buying nokia again. Plus remember the high roaming online costs, cant there be a way around this? Nokia drive is for drivers, we don't care about near by restaurants, we just wan't to get to the street adress and number that's all. I think manny will agree on this one. So I'd rather download a larger file with all street names and numbers than a smaller one which means i would have to go online, which gives me NO results and high roaming costs! This is a really big issue. Please FIX it.

So my rating as for the very bad experience from today would be 0/5 stars.

My map for the Netherlands is pretty complete, even the new area where my mom lives is on the maps. Even though that area hasn't been completely finished yet.

It sound odd you cannot find anything. Are you sure you had coverage when using the online feature, or using 2.0 for that matter?

I find the Nokia Drive 2.0 version, with the offline option a good alternative for iGO8 that I used to use on my HD2. Now that my GPS on the phone was fixed ;-)

There are some tidbits I would like to see ported to Drive, like a compass like system, so you can see what direction you're going. But that's me finding that stuff interesting.

Thanks for the reply.

Zune's fine, I deleted/removed the old phone, and set up the new one according to the wizard stuff. After that I put some stuff back on the phone.

What I mean is that I have two phones in the Windows Live>Devices section.

Trying to manage>remove the phone will result in a warning about not being able to buy/install apps anymore from the deleted phone. And as I don't reaaly know which one is the new phone...

Odd thing is that renaming the phone in Zune will not reflect a name change in Windows Live>Devices. Not after a re-login at Windows Live anyway. Maybe it needs some time to reflect changes..

And now I've set up the phone -again- I don't feel like restting and going though the hoops once more.

Some sort of iPhone like restoring of settings and apps by WindowsPhone would be greatly appreciated  in the future. WP78 maybe?

Hope this makes more sense regarding the two phone/deleting thingy.

OK,

Problem solved with the two phones in Windows Live>Devices.

It seems it takes a day or so to have the new name show up. I deleted the previous phone and all is well now.

Before this, I use the Nokia 5800 and Nokia C5, good use .... NokiaLumia710 GPS GPS useless, badly disappointing .... I think its a waste of my money with NokiaLumia710 ....

Hi Lumias,

I'm Lumia 710 user; really frustrated with the GPS issue since day one. After reading through the solution suggested in this nokia forum started by chonglol, i try my luck sent it to be fix at NCC @ KL... untill today, it's my 3rd time went there but sadly facing hesitation from NCC to rectify this GPS issue..

I'd told them to refer my problem on this nokia support discussion forum,.but they seem to ignore it, they said info from the Internet is not reliable.
I'd even told them how GPS works( consist of A-GPS and GPS(phone+satellite) and how it is differ), but the technician said by right A-GPS/data plan is faster than GPS Satellite.
I showed them screenshot of GPSinfo app, but then they said it's 3rd party software, not nokia,.so they not entertaining it.
Today, I asked them to have a ride with me to prove them it's not working, but they hesitate because of traffic jam. They said it's fixed & should working fine. Then i prove to them by walking myself around Bukit Bintan,KL for an hour while navigating through Nokia Drive,.and as expected, it still not fixed since GPSinfo only display A-GPS instead of Full GPS mode. Then, i send it back to NCC & ask them nicely to refer to internet on this issue because I believe this is hardware issue..

I dont know what else to do after this,.any suggestion?

I tried with lumia 710 GPSinfo
and I am using digi.. When I put the data at GSM which is EDGE connection (without data connection)
The agps working fine, but it looks like meters away from my position.
And then I put into 3G mode, gps app unable to detect my position. And yes, without data connection.
And also I tested both network mode indoor, when I goes outdoor, GPS app still In the AGPS mode.

it might be hardware problem or something, my phone are just 2weeks purchased.
Well, i will test in the car maybe..

It is hardware issue, send to nokia care to change the board.

I've just sent my Lumia 710 in today to the Nokia Care Centre at Plaza Berjaya. I requested a motherboard change instead of a "software upgrade". It has even been written down on my work order as well so I hope that they will actually do it the first time around.

I have the same problem in Nokia drive  . The GPS works fine , shows me my position accurately but  it does not refresh automatically  , so i cant navigate . To Nokia drive I always stays at the same position after pressing Start  . I stay in KL Malaysia and yes i downloaded the Malaysia map . I use post paid Maxis ,  I tried 3G and Edge , even enabling roaming (which i dont need in Malaysia  ) . Rest including internet works great .

This is a hardware problem. You should take it to the Nokia Care centre.
Seems to be lots of similar complaints coming from Lumia 710's sold in Malaysia recently.

I am not too sure about the GPS accurracy , seems quite ok most of the time , but big problem is that  my position dont refresh on the map when i drive and no voice ( I loaded map and voice & upgraded to latest software version for my Lumia 710 .

Alright , alringht , i will bring to Nokia care center and demand a motherboard change . Damn it  i use that phone for work and it has the miniSim card , so i cant use my Sim/ &number  on my other Nokia phones temporarily  . Hope repair fast , maybe take appointment ....
