Lumia 710 Internet sharing

When I attempt to turn Internet sharing on, I get an error message:

 

Connection not shared

There's no cellular data connection to

share right now. Check your cellular

settings and signal, and try again.

 

 

My phone's data connection is enabled, I have five 'bars' of reception, and they're joined by an 'H', reflecting my active data connection, and I am able to use Internet Explorer and other things that require an Internet connection. My provider, Mobilicity, does not restrict tethering.

Maybe the easiest thing first, what happens if you simply restart your phone?

I've had this problem since I first tried using the feature several months ago, and my phone has been restarted many times since then.

I have the same problem with a T-Mobile Lumia 710 using a Telcel sim in México. Tethering works with this sim card in an iPhone 3GS. I unlocked the phone through an online company. It works fine for web browsing and downloading apps. Please help as I need tethering.

Hi everyone, 

 

Lumia 710 has got the internet sharing with the latest software update. So, please make sure to check if your phone has the latest update. For more details about updating the software, please check this link.

 

You may also check the following:

 

  • On your Lumia phone, use the Network Setup app to correctly setup the network connections with your carrier. You will find the app in the Nokia Collection on Windows Phone Store.
  • Make sure your operator mobile data plan subscription allows WiFi tethering and your carrier has enabled internet sharing on the phone (if you have an operator variant). Check with your carrier for details.
  • Switch Off Battery saver mode or connect a charger.
  • The cellular network may not be in range or has a weak signal to provide a successful connection. Check the signal bar at the top of the screen to ensure you are in good network coverage.
  • Make sure that the security type and password settings match on the phone and connecting device.
  • Make sure your connecting device (e.g. laptop or tablet) allows WPA2 (AES) security connection. If possible, try to create a connection with some other device.
