I have been using a Lumia 800 and Lumia 900 for some time now. Most of my photos here are from a Lumia 800. All processing done within the phone.

Just to say that any good photographer must know the camera limitations and work with what you have to accomplish the type of work want. If you cant accomplish the type of work that you want with the gear you have, then you either need to change gear or try to use it in a different way.

I have lumia 800 privately and an iphone from work. I did side by side comparisons in harsh conditions (like dark keyboard in front of a monitor and low light macro) and found that the results are DIFFERENT, but you cant say better or worse. I like the Nokia output becuase it seems more raw (which always by consumers is mistaken for "bad" and "ugly"). The Iphone merely applies more sharpening (digitally) and contrast enhancements (digitally). - which you cannot revert back from . The Nokia images you can work with afterwards and get the same result as the iphone if you like that (e.g. in thumbacam - apply sharpening and contrast).
The default camera app in the Nokia can be difficult regarding whitebalance, so I tend to choose it myself, but recent updates made the auto better, even though it changes whitebalance after shooting, so don't trust the viewfinder.
I wish it had manual exposure settings,so I can keep the exposure time low for fast scenes, and a low, med, high setting for sharpness.
Attached comparisons. nokia editing done in thumba photoeditor on the phone.

I dont know whats the issues you are having with your camera but for me the carl zeiss optics makes iphone 4 camera a joke. Please note to yourself iphone camera is made for amateur but Nokia phones camera are not made for amateur since you pro claim you are a photographer can you kindly explain this? Since you are professional in iphone (just point and shoot resulting the camera does everything for you) when it comes to lumia you might face some challenges.
This are taken by me without editing without macro lens and with the standard camera app.

I have a lumia 800 (8MP; 2048 x 1536) and a samsung gio (3,5MP; 3264x2448 ).
The photos with samsung Gio (3,5MP) are better with the Lumia 800. strange !
The photos taken with samsung gio have 2048 x 1536 pixels and with the lumia 1224 x 1632 pixels. The lumia doesn't "use" the total 8MP? (The stettings are ok and are on 8MP)
