My Lumia 800 will not power up using the suggest tricks in the other thread.  I've tried holding the reset button for 10 seconds, I've tried to hard reset the phone, I've tried plugging in and out the USB cable while holding the power button, I've tried all kinds of combinations of pressing this button then that button and nothing, I've tried using different USB cables, I've trying charging it from my PC, my laptop and my wall socket and still nothing. 

It was working for about 1 hour since I got the phone today.  I'm not impressed with this at all!

What charge is on the phone when shipped, maybe my phone is completely dead and needs to charge for x amount of hours before it will turn on.  I can't find any answers to this only try the suggested tricks in the other thread.

My best suggestion is to do the following :-

Plug the phone into charger and leave it for two hours.

Then unplug the usb cable

Hold in the power button for as long as it takes for the phone to switch on.

Hopefully you should be good to go after this

Thanks Anderson, I'm going out for a few hours so I'll leave it charging and try powering it up when I get back. I'll let you know how I get on.

I'm hoping that because I didn't charge it up when I got it that I drained the battery completely flat and your solution will work.

Sorry to hear that. I was having problems and I thought my phone had died but I did what I suggested and it switched on after holding in the power button for what seemed an age.

I'm also facing the similar problem. The Nokia people have taken my phone back for replacement

I left it charging up over night and it still won't turn on. I've even had the power button pressed for over 3 minutes.

I'm returning it for a full refund tomorrow back to Germany and buying one a bit closer to home (Ireland) from the UK. I need this for christmas for a present!!

Hi there,

just had a very similar experience - tried wall charge, laptop, different chargers holding buttons in.

Then I took the SIM out and put it back in - all working again - the battery shows it had run out of charge - really hope this helps!

I had this happen to me as well. The "three button salute" trick worked for me. Held volume down, camera and then power button down for what seemed like around 20seconds. The phone vibrated so I released all buttons then held the power button down for another 20 secs. Booted up and no data loss. What a relief. I only bought the phone yesterday on gumtree...got it for £215 I think its ace!! (Apart from this issue, which is pretty major) but lesson learned...keep phone well charged

I've tried pulling out the sim and button pressing in all combinations for various different amounts of times and it just wont start.

To be honest even if it did start, what do I do if it happens 1 week, 1 month later. I can't and shouldn't have to spend a whole day trying these tricks to get it to work.

I love the phone and have already bought another one from the UK but this one is boxed up and ready to be sent back to Germany for a refund.

Thank you everyone for taking the time to help me and especially to Citizen_Caliban because if it wasn't for your post I would have sent the Nokia Lumia back to Germany with my sim card in it! lol

I had same problem as this, the "holding the power down while plugging it in" seemed to do the trick.  Its weird that the phone charge was at 100%.  Massive nuisance that the alarm didn't work while it was in the 'I'm a brick" mode.
