Absolutely appalling, ![]()
We have just purchased a vast amount of these phones to use as our new business mobiles, only now it turns out that none of them work with our company cars at the business. All of them display the “Dialling failed” message when trying to make a call from either the phonebook or entering the number using the cars hands-free system.
You can make a call through the cars hands-free speakers by using the phone to dial the number or select the contact, but that kind of evades the whole purpose of having a hands-free system (plus quite illegal to do if you are driving).
The simple fact is that these phones will not interface at an acceptable level with a wide range of car kits, therefore these phones are about as much use as the rubbish silicon/rubber sleeve is for protecting the Lumia’s screen. ![]()
We purchased these phones to replace the HTC HD2 phones we previously used as our enterprise level, exchange compatible mid-range phone, the HTC’s weren’t fantastic with their intermittent drop-outs of Bluetooth and freezing up, but they were a darn sight better than these Lumia’s are.
What gets me is we also purchased a stack load of Nokia Touch & Type phones, and I am pretty sure they all work fine with the Bluetooth hands-free systems. As do the iPhone 4s’s we purchased as our top-end director level phones.
Surely there is some sort of update you guys at Nokia can do in order to resolve this problem? Or is this SAP/PBAP/UHP issue a hardware limitation rather than a software problem or a problem that could be solved via a firmware update? ![]()

Mog~,

Hi MegaMog,
Thanks for your post and welcome to the forum,
Windows Phone currently does not support SAP in the Bluetooth stack. As this is part of the OS itself its implementation is controlled by Microsoft. The Windows Phone Bluetooth stack includes PBAP, HSP and HFP however. Your carkit needs to support these to work as well as support Bluetooth v2.1 with EDR.
The Bluetooth stack in Windows phone contains these profiles:
A2DP 1.2, AVCTP 1.0, AVDTP 1.0, AVRCP 1.0, AVRCP 1.3, GAVDP 1.2, HFP 1.5, HSP 1.1, PBAP 1.0, RFCOMM 1.0
Hope this helps,
Kosh

Thanks Kosh, this has clarified information greatly, thanks for this and for your very prompt response.
Are you aware if Microsoft has plans to update support for SAP in the Bluetooth stack on Windows Phone 7?
If not, are you able to comment on SAP support on the future Windows Phone 8 OS (if you have any information on this)? Any information would be greatly appreciated.
And finaly as an alternatie, do you (Nokia) have any Exchange compatible, android base phones which are on-par with the performance of the modern Lumia's, and which support SAP in the Bluetooth stack?
Thanks in advance!

Hi Megamog,
Thanks for your feedback and you're welcome.. ![]()
At this moment there is no information available yet on what will be part of the next major Windows Phone 7.8 update except for the new startscreen. Also as far as the Bluetooth implementation in Windows Phone 8 there is no no information on availability of SAP yet.
Nokia does not have any Android based phones. For your requirements the Nokia 808 Pureview, E7-00 or N8-00 would be the best match. You can compare these devices here.
Hope this helps,
Kosh

Hi
Maybe a bit off topic, at least a different car this time, Mercedes C-series. All phone operations are working just perfect but while phone is connected to car handsfree you can't play any music from Nokia. Car connects fine to player but just won't play. I've tested both Android and iPhone and they don't have this problem. A2DP and AVRCP profiles are supported by car.

Yep, i have also a CD400 with bluetooth in my Astra J and a Lumia 610.
At random the bluetooth connection is lost and won't recover by itself.
Choosing a number from the list works, but no dailing available from the CD400.
I have tried the latest softwareversion without success.
Hopefully a solution will be there soom.....

What is the technical explanation for why calling from an Opel Insignia works great with a HTC Windows phone, but not a Nokia Windows Phone? My (previous) Mozart worked just fine, my current Lumia 800.... Not :-(
2012-09-30 16:37
I have an Opel Insignia with Navi900.
The Navi900 works fine with my old Nokia 3109.
The Navi900 cannot make phone calls using my new Lumia 800.
The Navi900 supports Bluetooth Handsfree Profile V 1.5.
I have connected the phone using that protocol (not SIM Access Protocol); at least, so states my car's manual.
I can read my phone book and do everything but making phone calls.
This thread, at post 2, contains a solution: throwing away my Nokia phone and buying an iPhone should solve the problem.
May Nokia release a bugfix? I love my Lumia 800, but I cannot throw away my brand new car because of it.
Thanks

did nokia stop going to those Bluetooth unplug fest?
so many issues with car kits or handsfree unit.
Microsoft didn't attend those event or is Micrsoft ignoring those manufacturers making these device.
Its seems so out of touch with this industry.
I believe Apple works closely with such industry and make some kind of apple certification. Microsoft don't care?
ppl that owns a car kit or Nav device may just shy away from Nokia phones cause its just not compatible.
and its funny that Windows Embedded Automobile 7 supports MAP and Windows Phone 7 doesn't! the departments in microsoft don't talk?

You have managed to clearly identify that the problem lies with Microsoft, so perhaps it would be more useful to voice your complaints on their forums instead of here ?

Same problem as outlined by previous comments.
Nokia, pls. tell us what you are going to do about this. There's many proud owners of Opel cars out there that had trust in Nokia and are becoming seriously disappointed. The many EURO's that I and many others paid, give us all the right to expect that upon launching the Lumia 800 the manufacturer recognises the reality of the market and makes new the product compatible. The consumer is the boss, not Nokia. Nokia cannot hide behind "Microsoft doesn't support SAP". Nokia is accountable, and I would like to think has many clever engineers and resources to come up with a solution fast. All I want to know is when.

Hi out there,
we have exactly the same problem on Opel Astra J and Opel Insignia.
It doesn't matter if we use the SAP oder the UHP profile. Both profiles have the same issue.
HTC Mozart 7 is working well on these cars, so i don't belive that this is a Microsoft Problem.
IMHO the problem is the signal strengh indicator. If you look at this in your car, you see, that there is no signal. I belive, that the car firmware makes the following decission: "If there is no signal, I don't need to try to initiate a call"
In case of this, there are three possibilities:
1. Push Opel/GM to read out the correct signal strengh
2. Push Opel/GM to ignore the signal strengh while initiating a call
3. Bring Nokia and Opel/GM together to solve this problem together
We bougt about 120 Lumia (710 / 800). Almost all of them are useless in our cars.
PLESE SOLVE THAT PROBLEM!

Totally agree with previous messages. When you buy a phone - in this case a Nokia Lumia 800 you expect the Bluetooth to work with the cars integral system (my nokia N8 did) Will Nokia/Microsoft come up with a resolution? If they don't and soon I know one brand that I will not be purchasing again and I have had at least 6 different Nokias with no issues up until now.
Please resolve this issue soon

Just taken delivery of a new insignia st with £200 option of blutooth as the old vectra had a brilliant blutooth system which worked with my nokia lumia.
Guess what? phone book connects and it even reads out incoming txt but holy cow batman you can't dial out using car phone book or even speach tagged numbers which it lets you store no problem.
Surely this problem should have been resolved by now!

Hi,
it's me again. I lost my old account, so I had to create a new one.
Just for info: On Nokia Lumia 920 is the same problem with Opel/Vauxhall Bluetooth!
2013-02-07 10:37
Same problem here in Italy with LUMIA 920 and DVD 900 on Insignia
2013-02-26 12:57
I recently upgraded my Lumia 920 with software release 8.0.10211.204 and tested it with a Navi 900 system in my Opel Insignia.
The problem is still not solved. Perhaps I must use advise my provider to terminate his strategic alliance with Nokia. Since they can't solve a 2 year old problem.

NOKIA, I'm amazed and rather depressed by this situation.
My new Lumia 620 does exactly what is being described here in my Vauxhall (Opel) Ampera. I looked at this forum expecting advice and a fix. Instead I see post after post from frustruated Lumia/ GM car owners with basically the same problem. I would hope that NOKIA would wish to sort this problem out - but even if you don't care, surely you must accept that there are a lot of GM cars out there and if you can't get a fix out, then you will loose a lot of customers...... apart from that, it's a great phone - but it will be on ebay in the next couple of weeks so I can replace it with a phone that works with my car...... probably (sadly) an iphone.
