I've tried searching for others with this problem but was unable to find anything.
Here's the situation:
Question 1:
Should I expect another update for the firmware, through Zune? It doesn't sound like normal practice to have separate updates - rather that there is the MS update immediately followed by the Nokia one.
Question 2:
Assuming that there is a problem here, how do I go back to the pre-mango and Nokia software so I can update again? Will I be able to update again?

Hi CjEggett,
Thank you for your post and welcome to the forum.
Update availability may vary depending on things like your device, region, and network service provider. If Zune doesn't give you the update, you might want to check the update availability with your product code. Click here for help with how to update and here to verify update availability with your device.

My varient is: 059M539/Cyan (if the colour matters?)
Network: Vodafone (but I purchased it unlocked/unbranded)
Region is UK.
I wondered if you could directly answer my questions? Should I expect two seperate updates?

The update for product code 059M539 shows as 'Update available' which would indicate the update is in the Zune update channel. The update comes in three parts total, two OS updates and the firmware update. If you have not yet received the latter it should be available for you shortly.

So it can be a split update? I've only read all three updates coming at once. Is there a way to check for Zune roll-out patterns?
What would be the end date of the roll-out? I.e. when should I worry?

As the update is available for your device you can always opt to have it done at a Nokia Care Point. Doing so will however erase all personal content so make sure you have your contacts and Calendars synced with their respective accounts and media files synced on your PC (Zune) or Mac (Window Phone Connector).

* Is there a way to check for Zune roll-out patterns? - No, that information isn't made available to anyone.
* What would be the end date of the roll-out? I.e. when should I worry? - Same answer as above.
*Assuming that there is a problem here, how do I go back to the pre-mango and Nokia software so I can update again? Will I be able to update again? - It's not possible to go pre-mango on a Nokia as all Nokia Windows Phones were mango from day one.
If you are worried you should contact a Nokia care centre, they can check to see if yours is one of the rare phones that can't be updated using the normal method and probably update it for you.

Hi CjEggett,
Thanks for your feedback, I hope to be able to answer your questions for you.
* Is there a way to check for Zune roll-out patterns?
This information is not available.
* What would be the end date of the roll-out? I.e. when should I worry?
Unknown, expected 3-4 weeks after start of roll out. If the update shows as available the update is in the Zune update channel and delivery to your device beyond the control of Nokia. When registering as 'Update Available' you can have your device updated through a Nokia Care Point but this will completely erase your device in the process.
At this time most if not all all operator and country variants are available and should have been updated. There are a few Nokia variants/product codes which are currently under investigation/are being addressed.
*Assuming that there is a problem here, how do I go back to the pre-mango and Nokia software so I can update again? Will I be able to update again?
If there is a problem during update either the update did not start and transfer failed, your pone will operate as before and you can just attempt the update again when notified to do so through Zune. If the update has started and fails your device need to be handled by a Nokia Care point. They will be able to redo the update, but this will erase all data on the device.
I hope this has helped you,
Kosh
