the three buttons dont light up in medium or low brightness i havent figured out whether you can fix this so far.
and people, the update wont come out to everyone at the same time but theres is a trick you can use to go around it go on wmpoweruser and read some comments to find out.

anyone know where i can get the support driver so i can get a windows 7 laptop to recognise the lumia 800?
everytime i connect it fails to install the driver,
i have zune installed,
ive deleted the driver from device manager and then reinserted for it to fail to find the driver each time.
most frustrating!

think i found the error,
go to phone dianostics app, click accept, once in click bottom right hand corner, settings, and set it to zune and not serial which is was set too.

im having the same issue here now, what a PITA this has turned out to be all for the sake of a bit of extra battery,
ive connected it to zune and the update shows its upto date with 7740 (which is the old one)?

Finally the update is out... My battery capacity has gone from 980mAh to 1480mAh... I just hope this fixes the phone, like others my windows icons don't light up in medium and high brightness anymore. The touch screen seems slightly less responsive aswell...
Another update i guess... ![]()

+1 to Capacitive Key Lighting Issue... It's just off in High Brightness Setting...
This one definitely screwed up the Keys.. No Audio quality improvements.... Restoring back to 7740 since my Black Lumia 800 never had the battery capacity issue...

i think the buttons lighting going off, on high and medium screen brightness is based on the fact that the screen only goes bright etc in HIGH light conditions (if on automatic lighting), as opossed to dark conditions where the buttons will be used and wouldnt be seen so easily,
i dont think this is a fault but my other nokias were the same high/bright light led to the button illumination being off. i always set my phone to low to conserve battery but do manually switch tio bright when required outdoors in the day.

Update?
ive just tried Zune again, and all i get is the same as before its upto date with version 7740.
im going to london (if i havent mentioned it before) i could pop into a nokia care shop once ive finished my meeting at the BBC.

I'm on Orange UK and have ran the update last night. Firmware no. 1600.2483.8106.11500 but OS version still on 7.10.7740.16. Only difference is my battery capacity has reduced from 1520 mAh to 1274 mAh. I wasn't really affected by poor battery issues but now worried I will be as the battery capacity has reduced.

Orange UK have yet to annouce anything regarding the 8107 build, hence why Lumia 800's on Orange will be on 7740 for a while yet.
The battery capacity being reduced after update seems to be normal. Though mine only dropped to around 1480 from 1520, your seems a bit of a drop.
I don't think I was affected by the battery issue either, but I have a feeling that the actual full charge being reached was never reaching the max reported, time will tell.

well,
went to the meeting and after i came out i popped to carfone ware house on oxford street,
went downstairs to the technical support, another member of staff who owns a lumia 800 has also been having issues updateing his, nokias website is showing the update as the new one of 8106, however when we tried on the shops zune, it was saying i have the version 7740 installed, whilst i was in there, there was a rep from nokia, he has a lumia 710, he sucessfully updated and was unsure why we were having problems,
further more after a lengthy and time wasted phone call to nokia, to be told i have to wait whilst its rolled out, why announce an update and then make it unavailable to all,
ive waited paitently to get this just so i can get some more battery hours,
i cant believe how much time ive wasted today over this. THANKS NOKIA!

Nokia stated in official articles and through a post on this forum that the update would be rolled out over a two week period (it's even mentioned in the news section of your amazing collective app). I believe this is Microsoft's standard update policy. I do not know how they decide who gets the update when, it's not based on product code like it is with non-windows nokia's.
FYI, carphone warehouses aren't proper care points, they don't do repairs in house and don't have access to Nokia tools and resources such as latest firmware. A proper care point has access to more advanced software than zune and can force an update to the phone.

its just so frustrating that all the effort i put in was for nothing as there was only "internet rumour" (which turned out to be true) then a very brief official announcement on Nokia UK's Facebook,
there does appear to be any carepoints within central london and thought id give CFWH a shot which was a FAIL,
found this article which as you say answered all questions, i thought id be sorted for today but just feel like i have wasted hours of time trying to get know where,
ohwell 2 weeks wait i guess isnt as bad as a month ive waited for the 18th of Jan

Things could be worse, like with my other phone (LG Optimus 2x)
Google released Android 2.3 in December 2010, My LG finally got the update in November 2011
2 weeks isn't nearly as bad as waiting almost a year ![]()
