I know this was implemented because of all the wurst-finger whiners who accidentally pressed the play button in a conference (while fiddling around with it, instead of paying attention), but the way it was fixed in 7.8 is bad for everyone.

The first problem is that it totally overlaps the toast notifications (and this can be quite annoying). The second problem is that it is displayed for 3 seconds only. If you are shuffling music and can't really pay attention to your phone's display oftentimes it disappears by the time you want to switch to the next track. Either make an option to turn the old 7.5 feature on or off, or add some other, easy way to control the player (like gestures: swiping across the screen will change the song played).

Does anyone know of an app that addresses this issue?

this is really annoying me as well, that feature was one of the really useful ones on it. the new way is just rubbish and just takes away from the experience. Please just allow us to switch it on or off, rather than you choosing one of the main features is that they're meant to be personal and OUR phones so why not give us the option to customize the lock screen
