Please advice.

Nokia announced that the update will have a staggered release over two weeks, so keep checking.

I can't even update my phone, the first december update I had 800704DD error and I think I only got around it by resetting the phone and updating on a limited account.
This is why I hated iPhones and why alot of people hate iPhones, who can't the phone itself just get the update rather than having Zune is beyond me.
I do not want to reset my phone yet I do want the update... anyone know of a fix for the error?

If you read my previous posts in this thread you know that the latest battery update did not solve fox the poor battery problem for me.
However, after some messing around it now seems to be fixed. When I pulled it off the charger yesterday, the phone reported 77% battery left, but it quickly dropped to 76% (I did not charge it all the way). It is now 20 hours later and the phone reports 18% battery life left. This is a huge improvement from the 12 -17 hours I was getting on a full charge previously.
So, what did I do to bring about this change?
I plugged the phone into my computer and roled back the fireware with Zune to 7740. I then unplugged the phone and reset it in the "about" part of the settings menu. When the reset was done I entered all the details that the phone requires upon a new install -- "windows live ID" and "Nokia Account" information. I did not add any additional email accounts or download any programs. From here I plugged the phone back into Zune and installed the 8107/battery fix update.
That was it. Now I have vastly improved battery life.

So conclusion:
My Lumia after Full Flash/Hard Reset works nearly 50h on battery(low usage). In normal one it's nearly 36h(8h in standby by the night).
So if you have problem with battery after update to 8106, you should make hard reset.

how does one do a 'hard reset'? as this update hasn't worked for me.
Either use reset function in Settings > About at bottom of screen that completely wipes the phone or press down thePower+Volume+Camera until the phone vibrates then release the power button only, but keep the volume and camera pressed down for another 5 seconds.

I've seen the above issue on my Lumia 800, with the reported full charge capacity of the battery reported by the diagnostics dropping from around the 1350 mAh to about 1140 mAh after a couple of charges following the update to the latest build.
I solved it on my phone by stopping the background tasks running (go to settings, slide over one screen to applications, then click on background tasks and stop anything that is running); this cut the current being consumed by the phone by about half, and more suprisingly also returned the reported full charge capacity of the battery to over 1400 mAh!
This is the same reason that a hard reset is working, as all of the background tasks would (of course) be killed when the phone is reset. Interestingly a soft reset didn't work, the background tasks simply restart when the phone is switched on again.

I haven't updated to the latest version as yet, was going to do it this weekend...
However, having to do a hard reset is not acceptable, and neither is having to turn off all the settings that should make the Lumia a smart phone....
