Hi, have been reading about the firmware update to fix battery issues on the 800, which I have just got.
The battery life is not good and I was hoping to get an update, but when I connect via Zune it says it's up to date (software version: 7.10 (8773). Firmware version: 1750.0805.8773.12220.
Is there anything I can do? Have been reading accounts of greatly extending battery life but I only get 10-12 hours max, and I'm not doing anything particularly intensive.
Thanks for any replies.

Is your 3G connection or Wifi is always turned on? Open applications may drain the battery as well..

I've only just started using it - no email accounts set up yet and no apps are operating in the background as far as I can see. The wi-fi is on all the time, do I need to manually turn this off whenever I'm not browsing?! More wi-fi use than 3G during the day.
Just had a look around (e.g. http://discussions.nokia.com/t5/Nokia-Lumia/Batter
Just want to check what can be done other than the obvious (i.e. only using it for phone calls and texts)!
Thanks for the reply ![]()

If your phone is brand new, you should note that the battery requires about a dozen charge cycles before reaching optimum performance. Use it normally for the moment and you should notive the battery life improving with every charge and see what it is like after approx 2 weeks.

Ok thanks for the post, will give it a couple of weeks (also just read this: http://discussions.nokia.com/t5/Nokia-Lumia/Nokia-
From what I read, it seems the latest firmware updates actually perform worse on battery life than the initial 'fix'! Doesn't seem to be a way to downgrade the firmware either.....?
I'll give it a couple of weeks before deciding whether to return it. I'd love not to, I've always liked Nokia phones and the 800 is a great phone, if only the battery can hold up better.

I don't know how you use your phone but I was getting 2-3 days with my Lumia 800. This is more or less the same as any other similar sized and function smartphone I have ever used.

Hi, just to update - it's been about 6 weeks now and while I can't get anything like 2-3 days, the battery seems to have levelled out a bit like you suggested. I am getting 25-30 hours with what I would call 'average' use (obviously a very loose term).
I've experimented with pretty much everything - wifi, 3G, background apps, screen brightness etc and have done some reading around, which does confirm a lot of my findings. The biggest drains IME are gaming on XBox Live and also continual browsing of white web pages. (I don't need the gaming but I am a regular/moderate mobile browser).
I feel the screen is a big battery drain - because I seem to squeeze more time out of the 800 when the screen is off, or at least not displaying white for long periods. (e.g. What's app? uses less power than emails over a given day, from my very unscientific experiments.) From what I have read of AMOLED technology, this would make sense, right?
Anyway, I have found a way to live with it that isn't too much of a burden. I still want to stick with Nokia - Maps and Drive are great, the handset design is nice, and the OS is the first time I've ever seen Windows 'out-Apple' Apple.
I have heard very mixed results from updating to 7.8 on this phone - when it's available (still to be delivered) is it worth it? Can I expect better battery life or worse? I'm hearing conflicting things...
Thanks.
