HI,
I had setup a GMAIL account in my Lumia 800.
1) i am shocked to see that there is no option to attach a document (a word or pdf or excel...). clcicking on attach (pin symbol) directs it to the Album section (Images). -- any solution? i dont know what am i doing wrong here
2) Open a gmail, select forward or Reply or Replyall and i try to select and delete some existing text in that email - which is not possible
... I can do that with my previous mobile Samsung Galaxy Fit
Thanks

It does not lack this feature. The reason it can't be done directly is because it is against a deliberate core restriction of the Windowsphone OS. For security reasons, Microsoft have restricted the access of data files to the app they belong to. In otherwards, each app has its own set of files which cannot be shared with other apps. This in theory makes it impossible for malware, virus's or hackers to do any damage.
However, Microsoft have created a workaround. Most apps have the ability to share their data files. In WP8, the PDF Reader app has the ability to share pdf files through Skydrive. The files are uploaded to Skydrive by PDF Reader and then shared by email from there.
This inconvenience is the price paid for ultimate security.

So far as your other query it is not possible when replying to or forwarding incoming emails to edit the text. A big shortcoming in my opinion. I believe all Windows OS phones lack this feature.
The bit regarding WP 8.0 phones is in reply to your statement above regarding "all Windows OS phones".

this is a big lacking...
seriously, Win OS have to relax the thinking of Security related aspects and gotta allow it.
I sincerely appreciate it the move towards security aspect in WinOS.. but this is a BASIC feature in every smartphone - people will look at.
Look at Android, iPhone & Blackberry - they dont have such hassles.
so WinOS is encouraging users to use the phone primarlily to use it for email (without an attahment). not many business users will really like it..
we can access, read, edit outlook and office documents - which is better than other brands. this is great. But i dont know whats the point in not able to use them using its own softwares ![]()
this is crazy going. hmm..Guys in NOKIA /MS development,. this is a BIG BIG shortcoming..and i hate saying this ...seriously...i love winOS for its innovative looks, appearances, ease of use. but this email drawback is stunningly a BIG DRAWBACK... we as a Lumia lovers dont like it

i believe, the NOKIA Lumia experts over here shall subject a Change Request which will easily contains fixes to be installed as part of 10 to 15 shortcomings which is currently in WinOS.
Please consider raising CRs ASAP

This doesn't need action only from experts .. You can also do this HERE to increase the Vote count ...

thanks Farby. so these requests will be done in upcomign fixes? (on a priority basis).
will we ever get to know, if its considered for fix by Nokia Lumia developers ?

Lumia 520, 620, 720 is in the lineup very soon for release in India.
Its better to get the fix with the shortcomings. I dont think many people will buy it just for Win8OS..
they wud buy thinking / assuming that - such lack of email features will not be there..
but once they come to know - they will be ready to sell it and go for a Samsung..
just my thoughts
