Come on Nokia ! Lets have this topic pinned to the top. This is affecting more and more people and we want some answers. I'm seriously considering getting rid of the phone and going back to Android.

Also tried disabling mobile data network in settings but problem remains.
Is anyone at Nokia looking into this issue with the Lumia 800 ?

Lumia 800 destroyed my smarthphone experience. I have returned my device again for the 5th time in a 6month period with the same and exact issue. Waiting for the NCC technical report so the store whom I have purchased this dumbphone can replace it for an android device. Attaching here a short video of my device that I managed to capture 1:15 seconds before it lock-up.

I'm afraid nobody cares. An NCC agent called me this Monday(Nov.12th) and she's trying to show that I was just fabricating this issue which made me shout over the phone. I suggested to her to visit this Forum to show that I am not just making up things.

Well, shame. The impression I get is that everything is geared up towards the new windows phone 8 and screw everything else before that.
It's nice to know about getting 7.8 but it's a useless update if it wont solve a key issue.
The mods are quick enought to delete one of my previous posts but not quick enough to escallate the issue.

Without sounding too hopefull, I think I am on the verge of a breakthrough. I can't confirm it yet but when the phone locked up and I restarted it, as the phone booted up, a message popped up saying the phone had found a new network (sim related) something it has never done before. This was since I started tinkering with the network setup app.
Tried music player straight after while browsing the web CONTINUOUSLY for about 2-3 hours with no lock up.
Will test this throughout the day today and report back.

I think that the issue with the phone locking up might be to do with the sim/network. As since the message popped up and choosing the correct network, have no issues to report ...so far.

I have same problem, I dont understand why nokia support team dont give any reply?.

This NEED to be fixed, SOON.

Don't think they will reply. Have seen a number of topics on this subject and although Nokia do visit these boards, monitor them and make posts, they just keep saying contact nokia direct. Instead of maybe trying to replicate the problem,
Nokia will just advise to send the phone for repair. This is no bloody good. This is a software issue
Nokia do not seem too concerned about the issue, otherwise something would have been done about it already.
I myself have tried numerous attempts at solving this bug but failed each time, so I have just given up.

my lumia 800 freezes when im texting and listening to music.. after which i need to restart the phone by holding the power key for 10-15 secs..!!
the first time it happened, i thot it to be a rare occurence n dint care much.
but im usually texting and listening to music on my way back home from work,, n the problem is frequenting more and more.,  and its getting pretty annoying now!
asked another friend who had the same problem but it happened only once with him..

i think there is some problem with the earphone jack, may be there is some kind of short circuit that happens which ultimately freezes the phone..

NOKIA guyz,, come on,, at least take point and acknowledge that you have heard us atleast!
just becoz u rolling out WP8's, doesn't u forget the poor old cousins yo!!!
im a fan of the Lumia series, but that doesn't mean im gonna live with this problem yo!!

This has happened to me three times today.

Once whilst driving whilst I listened to music and using the SatNav. Another time whilst I was listening to music and on the internet. Then fianlly whilst I was listening to musics nad using a WP7 news app.

This has happened to me on prvious Lumia 800 I have had (i'm on my thrid now) but this is the first time with this one.

It's been over a 6 months struggle for me. I also have a replacement unit and issue continue to exist. I am already working on my refund now.

Hoping that issues with your WP7 lumias will be fixed with 7.8 update. As for me, I didn't pay for a device that will only work 6-8 months after purchase.

FYI NOKIA and Mods, I didn't sign-up for BETA so I will diffinitely have my money back.

It has happened two more times today, both times whilst listening to music and typing out an SMS.

It is really annoying.

I’m all out of manufacture warranty now as well so there is nothing I can do.

Anybody tried to Update to 7.8? Does the problem still exists?

I updated to 7.8 and trust me, problem is hell lot worse.
It freezes for about 2 times a day when you surf while listening to music.
what procedures can I follow so as to get a refund for this thing.my phone is not even 3 months old.
I am from India. Thanks for help.

This has been a constant issue for me since updating to the last pre-7.8 update, and we've not gotten 7.8 in Sweden yet (not on my carrier anyway) so I'm hoping that it fixes this problem. It does scare me that you report of it being even worse on 7.8 though, and Nokia really has to get on top of this problem. They promised they wouldn't leave legacy devices behind, but this makes me think they are not going to keep that promise...

I updated my Phone to 7.8 and the phone still freezes. Why Nokia is not interested in fixing this issue?
