OK, so I bought Lumia 820 15-20 days ago. I've been in 2 continents since, one on business and then came back home and signal is bad!!! I've been using Nokia phones for 7-8 years and the first one had better reception! What a hell is this? I could't give it to Nokia care as they wanted to keep it for a week and I had to go, and know don't know what to do?!
People keep telling me they don't hear me very well (and vice versa), that sometimes my voice gets cut for a second, then a little higher tone, then lower.
In cellular settings, there is only 2G and 3G choice, I tried them both and its only from bad to worse. The other is just a network provider and I selected mine. The settings - never poorer.
I can't beleive that quality of things had gone that bad! Is there any way to fix this, 'cause the idea of fixing the brand new phone is ridicilous!

Sounds like something wrong with the phone, probably with the antenna. Unfortunately you need to leave it with the Nokia Care Point.

The warranty is valid in the country you bought it from so you can go to any Nokia care point in your country, except for Europe where the warranty is valid all over Europe.

If you bought it is UAE then your warranty is only valid in UAE. However, your phone may be a grey import as in it is not originally for the UAE but imported privately by the dealer, in which case the warranty is not valid in the UAE but in the country it was originally supposed to go to. The reason I am mentioning this is because I bought phones from Dubai before and they were grey imports.
Goto Settings>About. What does it say for Carrier?

Strange because the carrier bit tells you the variant, Anyway if you bought it from a Nokia store then we will assume that it is a proper UAE version hence the warranty is valid anywhere is the UAE.

Check out what? It's a brand new model, brand new phone. Check out what to do if I get screwed right away. What a marketing pitch for a company. Give me a break. I'm through with Nokia, that's for sure...

Its not nokias fault in any way its yours for not fully understanding or checking how warranty's work and thats how simple this is.
And somebody that travels continents like you say you do especially should have an understanding on something like this.

I should have gotten the Android as I wanted in the first place. This is just ridicilous...
To avoid you further disappointment, chances are your android wont have international warranty either. What you claim is ridiculous is actually the norm in the mobile phone industry. I forgot to mention that the phone I bought in Dubai was an android.

Did this issue ever get resolved? I too am having problems with people being able to hear on my 820.

I haven't solved it yet. I'm probably gonna take it to some cellphone repair shop since I can't travel accross the world just to get a phone fixed. Anyways, the phone is great but this kind of problem makes it all irrelevant. I am very dissapointed with this phone.
And I logged into the forum asking for an advice and I get attacked for not checking a warranty as if I was buying some unknown brand at a market behind the street haha. Obviously I placed too much trust into this phone, and I do blame myself for not researching it beforehand, I wouldn't buy it in the first place and wouldn't end up with such stupid problem.

You know what basically is your problem? I have a lumia 920 and I'll probably have the same problems, if I travelled like you did. The fact is, in our today's world, we are primative with cellular services. Imagine this, ATT USA has no suffifcient resources to interconnect her users with companies of telecom services around the world. Still, nevertheless, ridiculous as it is; the fact is you can use a "skype" like service for a fraction compared to their conventional telecom services, which is outdated and aimlessly desperate for a new direction with their inherited burdens, is ridiculous. As a consumer, I really stress myself for the right answer, because my answer is unimportant to me. But rather, it feels more like an enthusiast learning to grow futeristically, while watching his memories, as like you, passing on their seemingly present sentiments to uncover something real.
