Cool glad you got it working, good to know I wasn't going crazy
Keep in mind it's not a permanent fix, just lucky with the Tango Update Trick to get it going. Hopefully as The North American counterparts gave Michaels accurate information this time and we finally see the Network Setup App in the coming weeks, then we can put this thread to rest....for good I hope.

Okay here's my tweet from over the weekend:
@NokiaCareUS #Lumia900 users are looking for a resolution to the MMS problem. We're getting unacceptable answers for the money we spent on u
AND... here's the reply tweet I just got from @NokiaCareUS:
@kunalpahwa happy to share that in the coming weeks, Network Setup app will be available for the Lumia in North America via Marketplace ^SV
**Let's hope this works out guys... if it does, I guess the LTE related excuse was a hoax? Regardless, thanks Nokia, it took time, but hopefully you won't do this to us again. HOWEVER, I won't hold I breath until I see the app in the marketplace!
Cheers

I hope so...
I just bought two 900s and a 710 for the family to use pre-paid earlier today... (I've had to tinker with APNs many times before, I never thought to check out the Lumias and was extremely horrified by this issue...) Luckily, if the release is true, I didn't make a bad decision today! ![]()

Was speaking with Nokia Cust Service earlier today. On "Nokia's" Calendar, Week 30 is the 21st to the 27th.

Oh please...everyone stop celebrating until it actually happens. And then, if it does happen, someone can take Nokia to task for the disinformation and delays conveyed through this forum and everyone else.

Just because Nokia has some internal issues with information or mis-information doesn't mean we need to be a-holes about it. I agree we've been strung for awhile now but at least give them the opportunity to see Week 30 through, THEN go nuts.
To be brutally honest Microsoft is more at blame since they are the ones who approve this app. Why are we not launching a full assult on them for dragging their feet? They are just as much to blame.
Give them until Week 30 then lets either celebrate or go nuts. My two cents anyway. Being an a-hole doesn't get you anywhere with customer service in my experience.

The following statement and Q&A were provided by Nokia USA for its customers:
We are happy to share that in the coming weeks, the Network Setup app will be made available for Lumia devices in North America via the Marketplace. This is designed to allow phones that have been unlocked by the operator to be setup with new MMS message center numbers that will allow these devices to send and receive MMS messages with SIM cards on other networks.
Q: Why wasn’t this application originally available in North America?
A: Since there were some extenuating circumstances with carrier APN settings, the latest version of Network Setup could have caused unforeseen issues with North America spec devices. The revised version (2.5) addresses these contingencies, and can now be released to North America
Q: I thought you said that this would not work on the LTE version of the Lumia 900. What changed?
A: The newest version of Network Setup (2.5) addresses the challenges that we had in trying to bring earlier versions to the LTE version of the Lumia 900
Q: Can you unlock my device?
A: No, we are unable to provide unlock codes. Only your operator is able to provide this – and each carrier has specific guidelines as to whether they are able to unlock a phone. Please check with your service provider for details.

This is good to hear - we'll see what happens at the end of the month!

So it will be useless to the Lumia 900 then for the time being, as AT&T isn't giving out unlocks to non-business lines until October? Brilliant.
Unless it runs on carrier locked phones purchased outside of a contract too? (Considering it seems there are many who only need to edit MMS.)

You do not need to unlock your AT&T phone to use your phone an AT&T MNVO such as Red Pocket and Simple Talk. Currently your phone can work on those networks fine for voice, SMS, and data (if you add APN). The only thing missing is MMS. If you send on on an MNVO with the Lumia 900, it will not send. That's what the network setup app is supposed to fix.
As a side note:
Its my experience with Windows Phone that using the Settings edit APN feature works a little differently. It seems the network setup apps (from another OEM) made the internet connection connect faster. I thought it tried to connect on the default APN and then tried the edited one but I am not positive that's how it works. I had a Dell Venue Pro on Simple Mobile. Editing the APN worked but it took 10 seconds or so to load a webpage. After using Dell's Network Setup, it was almost instant.

I know this. However, since it sounds a lot like the Network Setup app will only be available for unlocked devices, it may not be available to those with AT&T Lumia 900s for a while.
I hope it's just available for all devices in the US. Restricting it is ridiculous on their part if they do it. (Granted, these will be my first Windows Phones, so I'm unsure if they can even block apps from running on carrier locked phones in a region. If not, then yay!)

Shard: It may still work for you, won't know until it's out and you try it. MNVO is a unique situation since you need a different APN but you don't need your phone unlocked so it may work. By saying you need a Sim-Unlocked device...it goes without saying that if you put a different SIM in a locked device, the phone isn't going to recognize it and the Network Setup isn't going to do anything to fix that regardless of putting the correct APN settings for the inserted SIM.
Since you're phone is working, you may be able to configure and use the new MMS settings regardless of the fact that it's locked to AT&T. Just will have to wait and see if that's a correct assumption.
Keeping my fingers crossed for you

I know all about not needing an unlock, I was unsure if an unlocked device was required to be able to use the Network Setup app, since the 900 is locked for a few more months, it would've been useless to those wanting just to change the MMS APN if I was right.

Now it just needs to actually come out...

I'll believe it's out when I see it, and when it actually works for our devices. The blurb about it being for "unlocked devices" has me worried, especially considering there's no way to unlock our Lumia 900s at the moment.
All in all, handled like a hot mess by Nokia. I hope this isn't just another lie to stem the tide.

There are a lot of sites that will allow you to unlock your device, at least in Canada. Not sure about the US.

This is good to hear as I have a Lumia900 on AT&T and I cannot send MMS as well. I bounce my SIM card between a BlackBerry and Lumia900; the SIM is provisioned for the BB so I blame that as I have to manually input my APN so the Lumia can receive data. This is my second Lumia900 as the first was defective since it liked to lock up a lot even after basic resets and such. Both Lumia devices were from AT&T, both were initially powered up with SIM installed, and both were unable to send/receive MMS.
Tell me what I am doing that is wrong or against some sort of rule and I'll show you another Carrier and (non apple) Device that I will jump to ![]()
Either way I am surprised that something that seems so basic was overlooked, but I'll wait a bit longer before Ebay'ing my Lumia900 and firing up my N8 again

You may want to check with the carrier. I know in Canada on the TELUS network swapping a SIM between a Blackberry and a Smartphone works however here the Data Plans are different. Not sure if that's an issue. What I do know is a Blackberry Data Plan is more expensive than a Smartphone Data plan. Go figure.
