My Lumia 900 is acting strange while having music playing then hitting the Windows button launching Microsoft Tell Me. At this point, my 3 buttons (Back, Home, Search) is completely unresponsive. To get out of this, I have to reboot the phone.

Raising The Defect:

1. Play music from any app, eg. Music + Videos, WPFandora, LastFM, etc....
2. Hold the Microsoft (Home) button to launch Microsoft Tell Me
3. Attempt to cancel Microsoft Tell Me by hitting any of the 3 buttons (Back, Home, Search)
   OR
4. Attempt to cancel Microsoft Tell Me by saying cancel

Symptoms:

1. All 3 buttons (Back, Home, Search) are unresponsive unless rebooted

Is this a hardware defect?

Exactly the same issue here - while playing games the capacative buttons randomly activate then becom unresponsive.  I guess that I'll go to the store for a replacement

My replacement phone picked up this evening is having the same problem as my last...guess I'll try for round 3

Breaker thanks for sharing. I'm also now on my second one and still the same symptoms. I'm now wondering if it had to do with the latest update. I'm going to try to exchange mine for the white version and hopefully I'll get lucky on the 3rd exchange. If not, I'm not sure what to do at this point.

I just restored the phone to the previous version. Unfortunately, the symptoms I'm experiencing is not due to software. It's hardware. I was really hoping the restore would fix it. Exchanging for another wouldn't hurt to try but I'm feeling it be useless. To experience these problems for a $100 credit my bill doesn't seem worthy. I'm either going to exchange for a white version and lose my credit or simply exchange this for a completely new phone model. This phone I have is definitely not a Windows Phone. It's worse than pre Mango.

Same problem here. Tell me loves to just pop-up. The best part is when it actually searches for 'cancel'

I have the same problem, but with me it mostly when I'm watching online video, programs or video which I uploaded to my phone. With me it happens even when I'm not even touching the phone! It's very annoying and frustrating when I'm watching something online, it will turn on the Speach function, stops video, can't go back and once Speach function didn't register anything, I need to start the program I was watching from the start and skip forward to where I was before. Any idea how to fix it?

This is happening because of a defective magnet within the phone. If your phone is still in its warranty period, AT & T will replace the phone. There is no way to fix the problem yourself (i.e. by changing settings, etc.). Replace the phone.

Hey friends, here is how to solve this problem...I discovered that the problem is the screen...maybe a magnetic overcharge...I replace my screen for a new one...and now it works 100% perfectly...There is no problem anymore...
