I have a couple issues regarding the headset on the 900.

For starters, in apps apart from the built in Zune music, the volume levels are abnormally low using headphones. When playing through the speaker, the volume volume as expected though.

Secondly, even when headphones are plugged in, messaging notification sounds come through the speaker on the device.

Has anyone else been experiencing similar issues or have any solutions?

Not sure if anyone else is having this problem. I cant find a headset that works with my lumia 900. It's really odd. I can listen ti everything except phone calls. The static and screeching us so bad it feels as if your ears will be blown. I've purchased 4 pairs of different headsets. Called my carrier and was told to call the manufacturer. Called Nokia and was told to use a headset that us worth over 100.00 dollars
