Lumia 900 music playback issues and Speech recognition prompt while playing music

Hello,

So when i started playing music today, the speech recognition prompt would come on waiting for a command after each song was finished. Not only that, the prompt would come on when i opened other apps as well, but again, every time a song ends and a new one starts, the prompt comes on.

The next issue is that the sound is way off. The vocals sound like tin can echo while the instrumentals are enhanced, kind of like how people use to use progrmas to create karaoke mp3s to drown out the vocals.

The thing is i've used this device with the same set of headphones with no issues while listening to music, this issue is only after the tango update.

That is not all, after a bit, the phone started restarting over and over and over again. My battery was still at 80% and it would restart non stop. I would shutdown my phone and turn it back on and it would not stop restarting.

So i eventually had to factory reset and redo all my settings and get all my apps. The restarting thing has been fixed so far, but the music playback is still off. Anybody have any issues with the music playback after the tango update? I have beats headset and i've this headset with this same device prior to tango and it worked fine. Now, the beats headset sounds fine playing off my laptop, but the sound is still bad through the 900 device after the reset.

Anybody know a fix, experienced this, have suggestions?

Re: Lumia 900 music playback issues and Speech recognition prompt while playing music

I'm having audio issues with my phone after the Tango update, too, though not quite the same ones as you.  My Lumia 900 no longer streams audio through my car's speakers even though the phone and Sync systems are showing they are paired. This is true not only for playing music, but making phone calls, as well! No more hands-free talking! Both features worked fine prior to update. As for the sound quality: when I play music via input jack (only way to play it in the car now), it does sound tinnier than it used to. Initially, I thought it was just my imagination, but after reading your post, I'm not so sure. Is there a way to revert the OS back to the way it was before the update?

Re: Lumia 900 music playback issues and Speech recognition prompt while playing music

Just wanted to update my previous reply: Sync had an update to their software, which I have installed. Lumia 900 audio is now working fine (both music and phone). I realize this doesn't address your problem, but I wanted to let you know my problem must not have been a Tango update issue, after all.

Re: Lumia 900 music playback issues and Speech recognition prompt while playing music

I'm having the same issue with the audio playback.  My 900 came with Tango.  I never really bothered trying to listen to music off of it until recently I've been trying out Plex.  The playback seems as good as can be expected for streaming audio when played out of the phone's speaker but when I plug in the headphones the quality is significantly worse.  Vocal part of the track is faint.  Treble is tin canny.  Trying to figure out if this is an headphone jack issue, Nolkia software issue, or Plex issue.

Unrelated topic in the off chance someone from Nokia ever reads this one day... I'm going to give you a free million dollar idea... develop some sort of headphone jack cover so I don't have to try and fish pocket lint out of it all the time.  I mean c'mon, am I the only person this happens too?  I think I have it cleaned out now so that isn't the cause of the issue above but just thought I'd rant on that as long as I went through the hassel of signing up and posting something here.

Re: Lumia 900 music playback issues and Speech recognition prompt while playing music

After some more googling I realized my issue was I was not cramming the headphone jack in tight enough.  I don't know why you have to insert the plug with 10 tons of force to get it to work right but whatever, happy it was a simple fix.  Maybe I have pocket lint still smashed in there or something.  If only somebody would create a simple fix for that common problem....
