I see that the phone will only connect the the G3 network. What about G4? When will that be offered? There is no point in upgrading to a Lumia 920 without being able to connect to G4

I suppose you actually mean 3G and 4G, as these standards are more popularly known. I would strongly suggest that you first read carefully the detailed data sheets of both 820 and 920, since I cannot believe you have missed this bit:
Data Network Data bearers2
Operating Frequency Bands
In fact, these handsets so far are unique in offering penta-band LTE support, i.e. effectively worldwide support even in markets where 4G/LTE networks have only been approved and are not even functional yet.

What the datasheets listing the supported frequency bands do not say is, whether there'll be different hardware variants for different regions (e.g., North America vs. Europe) with different radio technologies (e.g., U.S. models where the LTE will only work on U.S. networks, but not in Europe, and vice versa).

I hope the Lumia 920 is not exclusive to EE, they are a terrible network, I have been with them, worst customer service every, i hope O2 and Vodafone get it, even if they haven't got 4G, they will have it in Februrary, but i want the Lumia 920 now as my upgrade is now and i want to get rid of my iPhone 4s

Looking the U.S. AT&T Nokia Lumia 920 specs it isn't surprising it doesn't look like an unlocked version will work on TMobile. However, there is a global Nokia Lumia 920 on Nokia's web site that looks like it will work unlocked on TMobile.
I'm thinking about getting an unlocked phone so I can take advantage of a cheap TMobile month by month plan ($30 with 100 minutes/unlimited text/unlimited data). Sure, I could get the Nokia Lumia 810 they just announced for TMobile but I'd prefer the better phone. In fact, I might end up sticking with Android because I'm not really interested in a mid-range phone.
Am I right the global version is fully compatible with TMobile (specs below) and will an unlocked version be sold in the U.S.?

Well, I get to answer my own question. According to Pocketnow the Nokia web site is in error. There is no 700MHz AWS T-Mobile support for the Lumia 920.
I realize T-Mobile, even after the MetroPCS merger, is only the 4th largest carrier in America but it looks like from the get-go the Lumia 920 snubbed them. For a company on the brink of bankruptcy this puzzles me. You're still talking over 30 million subscribers and it's the only carrier where Nokia doesn't have to worry about going toe to toe with the iPhone!
Since no Lumia 910 was announced with the T-Mobile ho-hum midrange 810 it's safe to assume Nokia isn't really serious about selling phones to T-Mobile. Sprint is snubbing Windows Phone 8 entirely. That means Nokia has put most of its Lumia eggs and all of its 920/Verizon variant in only 2 carriers (yes, I realize they're the largest). I hope the marketing genius behind this swift move doesn't expect a fat bonus check. ![]()
What was a slam dunk I'm dumping my Android for a Lumia 920 is slowly deteriorating into I'm kinda of leaning that way but it all depends on how much my enthusiasm continues to ebb. Too bad.

Can someone from Nokia confirm or deny this? Every Symbian/MeeGo smartphone from Nokia released for the last two years or more has supported T-Moble USA's 3G. Will the Lumia 920 really buck that trend?

I revisited to see if anyone replied from Nokia (fat chance, eh?
).
Anyway, I see I made a big typo in my previous post so it's not only Nokia posting errors. It's the 1700MHz AWS spectrum that's not supported by the global version of the Nokia Lumia 920, not 700MHz. If you read the PocketNow link my mistake is pretty obvious.
The overall point remains: the evidence points to Nokia completely snubbing T-Mobile with a high-end Lumia 9xx device.

The Lumia 920 variants announced so far are an AT&T-specific variant for the US, a Rogers equivalent for Canada and the "Rest of the World" version.
Currently, the only information we have of supported frequencies is that whis is shown on the relevant country-specific web sites. If further versions were to be announced in the future, specifications would be communicated at the time.

I don't know whether the Lumia 920 will only be available on EE once the other networks launch their 4G LTE services. Anyone got any ideas? This might help I don't know:

Just spoke to EE and 4G does not work on Windows Phone 8. Microsoft Bug evidently. What is worse it that when it gets a 4G signal it cuts you off the network completely.

I find that hard to believe since there are several people in this forum who are using 4G on EE with 920s and none of them has reported such an issue. I have seen even speed tests shared by some of them.

So do I but that's what we were told when we raised a fault with EE yesterday.
Can anyone confirm that they are getting 4G on EE?
