After seeing many unhelpful posts and rumors on a variety of sites (ATT, MSoft, blogs, elsewhere) I decided to start from scratch to make sure I was eliminating possibilities. So I did a reset and am leaving the phone basically alone except for adding in my work email to populate people, calendar, etc. No other email accounts, no apps. I did not choose to restore the backup when I reset, so it is as clean as can be.
Interestingly, when I did the reset and checked the version it came right up with 8.0.10211.204 which everything tells me is the current version as of today. I am not sure how the reset works but either it saves some of the core files or it immediatly downloads updates. Whatever, it seems to be clear.
So today I will use it on conference calls and I have it propped up in front of me so I will notice if the screen flashes during a random reboot. I have had it sitting in front of me for an hour or so and nothing yet, so we shall see.
To be continued...

One thing I left out, I was trying to do the 3G workaround that some have discussed. However, I can't find an option to change it anywhere in my phone. In this thread, the suggestion was 'Settings>mobile network>highest connection speed' which my phone does not have. I have a Settings>System>Cellular, and a "Network+" that seems to be something extra Nokia adds. Unders Settings>Applications> Phone I have some phone options, but none related to 4g/3G. I've poked in to about every menu on the default phone and didn't find anything. So I haven't really tried that as a fix since I could not find it. Perhaps different phones, different options? Or I just missed something?
Anyway, after not figuring that out, I did the reset I described earlier.

Well, that didn't take long. First call this morning, dialed in, boom-reboot. Got the phone back up and dialed in again, 20 minutes later, reboot.
So now calling ATT to ask for a new phone. Not sure if it is hardware or not, but something definitly is wrong.
This is after a reset. I added my Live ID, added my work email account, and turned Battery Saver On (it was off by default). So it is either hardware, core OS, or something with those.
Let's see what ATT says...

And ATT is sending me a new phone. Since I am under my 30 days return window, I made sure they processed it as a new phone exchange vs a refurbbed phone. Some postings I have seen had said they exchanged their phone with ATT, but what they recieved back was a refurbished phone, not a new one, so I was clear with ATT that I wanted a new phone and they were able to do it in a way so I got one.
So after my searching and experimenting and resetting and everything, my resolution is to try again. I got the same Lumia 920 so I can do apples to apples and see if it seems to be phone/hardware specific, or if it is software, or what.
At this point, my only suggestion for anyone reading this who is in the same situation is that if you are under your 30 day window, make sure you call ATT and just get the return/swap process going.
I will get the new phone next week and will see how I do... I will see if I have any problems with new hardware, and I will post results.
To be concluded...

I am on my second 920 and I'm having the same problem again. Phone reboots when I am on a call, using an app, connecting via bluetooth to my car, or randomly during any use. It seems to happen most frequently with the bluetooth. Talked to AT&T and they acted like I'm the only one having this problem. Extremely unhappy customer that was considering getting many of these phones for my business.

Hi Dimebar,
Welcome to the forum! ![]()
Try first to perform the troubleshooting steps provided on the link below before you decide to get a replacement phone.

My Lumia 920 started off in the same manner. Restarting after 30 minutes, then it became more frequent and plugging it to the charger used to act as an interrupt hence reducing the frequency. But where I am at now is beyond me. It can't stay on even for a minute and before it comes on again it restarts severally once it displays the Nokia logo. When will Nokia ever solve this issue?

Does it remain ON if the SIM is not inserted ?

May be you should either take it back to the Point of purchase or local Nokia Care

So I have the same problem, the latest Portico update installed.
Phone reboots randomly, on charger or in the pocket, lying on the wireless charger and in the middle of facebook post. Charging wirelessly seem to provoke it to be much more frequent, though, about 2-3 times an hour as opposed to 3-4 times a DAY if not charging.
Combined with Xbox music player that keeps forgetting last playing position after reboot, this is the serious problem.
Should I try Hard Reset? bringing it back to seller is not an option, since I bought it from Amazon in the U.S. over a month ago.
