Lumia 920 Roaming setting problems

I just got the lumia 920. The 'don't roam' setting is turned off and had no problems using it in malaysia. When i returned to Shanghai and turned on my phone, the triangle popped up indicating i am roaming even though the setting is set to off. I bought a local sim card and the triangle remained which automatically turns off 2g data and i can't use it. How do i solve this problem?

If you bought a local SIM..then try setting to ROAM (as you are in your Home network and this setting won't make difference till you go out of it..) See if it makes any difference ..

I am just curious why the settings don't work? If its set to don't roam then it shouldn't roam. Some sims work and some brings out the triangle icon. I want to use 2g.
