Getting mine changed AGAIN for the third time now, not just because of the rattle but this ones got a loose battery that moves and shakes around inside. Its really disappointing because I love the phone and I can't change to a completely different phone even if I want to because I've already taken insurance out on this. Very disappointed ![]()

I also have this problem. I love the phone, but seriously? I'm embarrassed and annoyed amongst friends. This phone sounds very cheap, and it's hard to recommend it to someone when it sounds like this. Is there any way to turn it in for repairs? Glue or something? haha
I'm getting mine replaced otherwise.

I had the white 920 and it rattle, exchanged for another one and I think it was even worse. 3rd time the store refused to exchange cause we checked 1 employ phone and 3 display phones all of them had this issue. The manager said if I want to exchange for 35$ fee for a black one cause maybe its the different case, he said the Matte Black is better case quality .... I doubt that. I guess we are stuck. Nokia said go exchange but it didn't help. I wrote an email back they said "its good to know and they will look in to it".

I have the white Lumia as well and I have no rattle at all. if I didn't know better I'd assume my phone was a solid slab of.... errrr... what-ever-the-heck-this-thing-is-made-of.
I know that doesn't exactly help you guys but I doubt this is a wide-spread issue... maybe there are just a few bad batches going around (which may be why you are getting the same problem with your replacements from the same store).

So there are two things going on here- one where the whole inside of the phone seems to be detached from the case and rattles around when you move the phone, and another where the phone makes a buzz when it vibrates. I thought the two problems were one and the same but they're not. The first seems like the battery or circuit board is completely free to move around. I exchanged my phone and this problem was fixed, however the vibrate/buzz continued. I suspect its from the spring mounted lens. Overall it doesn't bother me too much and is a tradeoff I'm willing to make for the awesome picture quality. If you have the first problem though, definitely exchange your phone!

My phones were from 3 different stores. One of them was the 2 busiest store in the country...that what the manager who refused to exchange 3rd time said.
I bet all SOCAL had the bad batch or at least San Diego

Same issue with my phone here. Rattle was terrible. Swapped the phone last night and it is better but there is still something going on. Also noticed that after the swap the home button, back button and Search button all seem to be a yellowish colour instead of white. Anyone else seen that?

Same problems here in NE PA. I'm on my second 920 (cyan) and its battery is loose and sounds like a Wahl hair trimmer when it vibrates. Totally annoying and unacceptable to me. What's the point if it can be heard during meetings and such? I've checked all the local ATT stores units and the nearest MS store units, all had annoying vibrate rattle\buzzing. Some were way worse than my own. Not all had loose batteries though. Only two units that sales people had did not rattle. They sounded perfect and what I would totally expect. I'm waiting on a call back from Nokia Tech about this. Hopefully they can help and maybe get me one that is what Nokia's design and engineering teams envisioned. I can't see this aweful vibration nonsense as being part of that vision. I do have a wk left to exchange, again, with my ATT Premier account but I wanted Nokia to step-up and take care of this. The ATT manager that has being handling my woes has said he will make sure they cherry pick a new cyan 920 that does not have these issues. So I still have that option. I really love this phone and its design but I cant overlook this vibration issue. If I dont get one thats right, I guess i will be returning the phone. I'll wait a few months before returning back to the 920 after they sort out all these aweful quality control issues.

+1 on the vibrate/rattle issue. I have a Black 920 on AT&T.
I noticed that the vibration related to the 3 bottons (back, Windows, search) don't create this "rattle". But the notification vibrations text, email, phone do make the rattle.
Wonder if Nokia can create a firmware update (or someone can create a customization) that slightly lessens the vibration intensity to get rid of the rattle.

Same issue here. Very annoying rattle. Does not seem normal at all.

Rattle is still there. Just got this replacement yesterday. Whenever the Vibrate starts up it rattles then goes away. Annoying and embarassing. I rave about Windows 8 and the 920 and then they hear it vibrate and its a collective "Oh !"
Might have to just give up on the phone or go HTC.

+1 on the vibration rattle. My brother ordered 920, the first one was replaced because of faulty camera (didn't have the rattle problem, maybe because the camera was faulty??)
But on the second one he got as a replacement, the rattle noise is very noticeable and disturbing. I have an 808, which you can also consider as a "beefy phone", and it doesn't rattle at all like my brother's 920, rather makes a normal vibration.
Very weird, because it seems as this is a common problem and I wonder how an earth did Nokia let an issue like this through their quality tests? As, you know, this device is a do or die for Nokia, and it is not nice to hear people saying "well, that is what you get with a Nokia", as I did today when we tested the replacement in front of some iPhonists...

I too have serious rattle when the vibration is starting.

Got a callback by Nokia Tech support.
I was told to send it in to have it checked.... So it'd be out of phone for 7-10 business days which sucks.
But I'm really tempted, to see if they could fix that issue...
If anybody cares to check it out, I've got the address to send it out to. I was told no RMA is needed, neither a case, you just need to have your details included in the box.

@CanadianWhiskey Y=I had that problem with my first one, but when I got my other two exchanges both of them were white, mow I'm on my fourth one and the back and home are yellowish and the search button is white :/ I've had so many problems with this phone, my accelerometer is dodgey too, when I play games that involve tilting the screen, it always steers to the left when on a flat surface :/

I have kind of noisy vibration too (significant to some HTC's low models). But it feels like the engine is really strong. What is strange, i didnt see ANY video with "normal" vibration recorded. So i will be assuming that this is how it should be. Really louder than another phones. But it doesnt sound like it is totally broken .. i guess.

I just got my yellow 920 yesterday, and the first thing i noticed was a strange noise when the phone vibrates. I googled a bit and found this thread.
I cannot find any official response from Nokia. Should we send phones with this problem back or is it something that can be fixed easily?
I would suggest to lower down the vibrate power, its much more then my lumia 800. Maybe then we will not hear the noise.
If it's because of bad production, we should be able to get a new one.

Same rattle issue here in Singapore.
