Hi, everyone. I am a newbie here. I had my red 920 since 11/9 and it has been great until this Tuesday. Previously the battery was great and after full charge it usually showed battery life 1day or even longer. This Tuesday I used camera a lot. The handset did get warmer because of flash and focus assist lamp. After that night the battery darin rate became really fast. After one overnight charge 100% battery only shows 9hours and drain rate was like 10% per hour. Any one has suggestions why this occured suddently? Do I need to reset the phone to factory?

Sounds like there may be a task left open in the background. Press and hold the back arrow to see if there are any tasks left open? If not try a soft reset first by pressing and holding the vol down+power button. You shouldn't lose any data doing this but some have reported their clock resetting. 

Another thing to check. Goto settigs>Applications>photos+camera. Is Auto upload to Skydrive on or off? If it is on, your phone may have apent hours trying to upload to Skydrive if you have a slow internet connection. If connection is slow, you might want to consider turning this off.

Thanks for the suggestion. I have not tried soft reset yet, but I always use "back" key to quit application. But just moment ago I checked the phone again and it suddently shows 95%, 2 days 6 hours. I just donot understand this big variation. Is this software glitch or the battery has to be breaked in or used in various situation to get fully calibrated and stablized. Hopefully my phone's battery life to be consistent in a good way.

There is nothing wrong with the battery. Hot phone means busy phone. Just have to figure out what it is busy doing and turn it off. I bet the phone was busy trying to upload all the your photos to skydrive. Did you check the auto upload setting? Also log into your skydrive and see if they are there.

i have similar issue. First it said at full charge 1day or more left, but now 100% and only 7h 46minutes whatever i turn on or off. with battery saver option turned on it's about 8hors and 40minutes.

ok!background nokia drive +beta turned off and battery showing 1day and 15hours. Cool!

Good stuff Busman001, you may also want to turn off things like Tap + Send, and as you have done the background services that are not needed, and also the big one Location in the Settings (you can leave Location on in individual apps).

It's sad that i have to turn off these features to get reasonable battery life. This is not normal, they'll have to fix it. I'm from iOS and i love this new and fresh interface but this battery issue is annoying.

Battery life on lumia 920 depends on which apps are allowed to run in background so if u install new app or update existing from store then that app would run in background unless you disable from settings menu.

I've had the Lumia 920 for a little over a week. I love the form factor of this phone and the general utility (OS, power, so forth). One problem: the battery is awful. Especially on video.

I've gone through all the settings -- turned off the GPS, Nokia Drive, etc, etc -- but nothing will make the phone stop draining at a ridiculous rate. 

I bench marked it against my HTC Vivid with a 30 minute video; the Vivid lost 7% over that time, while the Lumia lost 15%. Other times it's been even worse; run a two minute video and losses are up to one percent per minute. That's horrendous. Once again by comparsion. off a fresh charge I ran twenty minutes of vid on the Viv and it only drained by two percent. 

It's looking lkike I'm going to have to get a replacement phone. If the next one does this, then I'll have to trade it for an Apple or Andoird. Which sucks, because it's a genuinely awesome phone. But it has to be able to run multimedia. I'm not going to keep it as a crippled device with a beautiful screen.

I had similar issue I went to Microsoft store,they didn't understand the problem.

they said background tasks, WiFi,location service etc. Everything was offline.

The issue started after December patch update.

The system keeps dropping signal very often and it tries to reconnect to 4G and LTE making battery drain, This is as per the Tech at Microsoft store...

Use wall charger for 3-4 hours. That helps. Also let the battery drain to less than 10% and charge , Turn of all your background tasks that helps...

No word from Nokia yet., Wireless charger doesn't work well.

Also when i tried logging in from Lumia 920 to post this message, the popup login on the sign in doesnt work. Also when you post the scrolling doesnt work really well like on the desktop. Not sure if its the site issue or IE10 issue

The Spell check for Lumia is still not fixed. it suggested Aluminia... can some mod from Nokia put in a request to fix this ?

hello everyone! 

ok, i've had my nl 920 for 6 months now. and yesterday i noticed something weird at my battery consumption. it ran out of juice really fast but still lasted for like 7-8 hours. Last night i slept for 4 hours and did put my phone to the 

charger before i went to sleep. then i woke up, disconnected the phone from the charger because the battery was full.

then i went back to sleep. slept about four more hours. when i woke up from my second "nap" my battery was completely dead. 

i have no backround tasks on, screen brightness is low... does anybody else have this kind of problem?
