Tried to pair my Lumia 920 with BT phone kit in generation 7 series VW Golf. Only audio connection, no phonebook availability. Talked to VW importer, it seems Lumia is not fully complient with Bluetooth standard for Phone Book access and Phone Book Access Profile.

I have a 2013 Jeep Wrangler with uconnect. I have no problem connecting to my Jeep, but whenever I try to use the uconnect sms texting it says "SMS is not compatible with this phone". Worked fine with my old Blackberry. I've tried changing different setting on the phone, but nothing works. Here is the kicker, I had a 2012 Dodge Caliber before the Jeep & it did not have the uconnect texting, but after I got the 920, the uconnect would read any text msg that came in & give me the option to reply. I could not initiate a text by uconnect, but I could keep the conversation going if someone texted me first. I have not read every post, does anyone know of an upgrade or if this compatibility issue is being worked on?

My 920 won't stay connected to either our 2009 Range Rover or 2010 Jaguar XK. The sites for both vehicles say the cars are compatible with the 920 running 8.0.9.9903.10 although my phone is at 8.0.10211.204 which is the current version. (USA)

I have a 2010 Camaro and I'm trying to stream music on my Lumia 920. The phone works fine, hands-free, but it won't stream music, not even Nokia Music. I'm wanting to stream Spotify but can't stream Pandora either. This is killing me to not have Spotify. If I can talk via Bluetooth fine, why can't I stream?

I have updated the BMW software to UPD01006 on my X1 and my Lumia 920 to 1.7.0.173 (OS 8.0.10211.204). The phone connects ok, but disconnects after 10-20 sec: visible on 'paired' - but dissapears from 'connected' . Looks like it disconnects when synching data. I have removed and added the device as well. The problems started after I updated the phone OS.

My 920 pairs ok with my Kufatec after market hands free kit installed in a 2007 Audi TT and downloads the address book ok.
More often than not though, I can't use the steering wheel controls to make a call. This worked fine with my last 3 Nokia phones.

As somebody has said a bit previously, however in a bit more detail, Pioneer has released a Bluetooth firmware update for the 2012 model stereos that will allow the bluetooth profiles to work once again, the issue was as follows:
Windows phone 8 (or at least the Lumia series) generally uses AVRCP (Audio Visual Remote Control Profile) bluetooth profile version 1.4 to change tracks, play, pause, and display ID3 Tags. Pioneer used AVRCP bluetooth version 1.3 in its 2012 lineup of stereos. this was also an issue with iOS 6. Without AVRCP the previously mentioned options will not work. Audio still played (that uses Profile A2DP (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile), which is standard) and also was typically able to make calls due to the HFP verson 1.5 (Hands Free Profile).
With the latest firmware update from Pioneer, it updates to includes the ability to now use AVRCP version 1.4. I have personally tested this with my Lumia and it works like a charm. Skip, play, pause, id3 tags. all of it! So if you have a Pioneer and its not working, get updating! (PS. ID3 Tags work for Metroradio as well for you pandora fans!)

Just upgraded to a Lumina 920 from my Samsung Focus Windows Phone 7. I had NO problems with Bluetooth audio streaming with the Focus on my Lexus RX 350 2010 audio system - all worked fine. With the Lumina 920, when transitioning to the next track, it frequently gets stuck and not starting the next track. This is really annoying and it takes many manual pushes on the "next track" button on my car to get it unstuck. Sometimes I have to restart the car or phone to get voice streaming going again. I am am at a loss of words and FRUSTRATED as hell why Nokia/Microsft let this regression happen from Windows Phone 7 to Lumina 920/Win Phone 8. Anybody else experiencing this issue on their car audio system? Phone calls and address book work fine just as it did with Win Phone 7.

If you read all these threads, as well as when you google it on the internet, you find lots of them all over. It sucks with all these bluetooth problems. How on earth can Microsoft and Nokia decide to use the latest whatever bluetooth handsfree protocols thinking when you buy a new Lumia you buy a new car with the latest bluetooth upgrades as well. To have handsfree in the car is a safety issue and law in many civilized countries all over
the world and Microsoft and Nokia just ignoring it not making new handsets downward compatible. Shame to you
both. I just can hope that the governments of this world realize it and establish countermeasures whatever to
prohibit such arrogant makers from participating in the modern communication world. I'm fed up with these
arrogant policies not letting customers know what they buy beforehand. I stuck now with a product I can't use
handsfree in my 3 year old car, although my car maker has changed the audio/nav system of that model and no
upgrades available anymore. My previous phone (iphone 4) was working fine...and if I can sell my phone reasonable I go back to Apple, they look after their customers, even they are not perfect (see anntena gate), but
they try hard to overcome their problems as they did.

I have a Lumia 820 (same BT specs as 920 i believe) and it does connect to my Nokia CK-7W carsystem which rusn over the audio of the car.
Every call i have people tell my my sound is bad, the conversation is muted, the conversation is Li-ke-tal-king-in-a-can. Am using a HTC Mini and a Galaxy SIII-mini as well, and the conversations run smoothly.
Have contacted Nokia on this one, received a call-number, but have not heard from then in the last 3 weeks...
Am thinking of replacing the nokia, cause i need to be able call in the car.

My Nokia Lumina 920 does not connect properly via BT with my 2013 Vauxhall Ampera (Chevrolet Volt). Sometimes the phone’s display says ‘connected’, sometimes ‘connected voice’ and sometimes the connection drops out. When connected I can only receive calls and look at the phone book etc. on my phone. I can’t make calls, either via the phone’s contacts displayed on the car’s screen or using the number pad on the car’s screen.
An old 2007 Nokia phone I have works fine via BT with the car.
My Nokia phone is on OS version 8.0.9903.10, Firmware revision number 1232.2110.1244.3011, hardware revision number 1.0.0.0. My service provider is T Mobile, and my phone says I am using the latest OS version.
I am told that the OS version 8.0.10211.204 eliminates some of the BT synchronisation problems, but don't seem to be able to download it.
Has anybody got any ideas how I can solve this problem please?

I have also problems with BT connection between L920 and L800, but in L800 I don't have the latest OS version, because the L800 won't update to 7.10.8858.136 from 7.10.8773.98.

I found that if I unlock the phone screen, everything works ok. I can then make and answer calls using the steering wheel controls.
This isn't a solution though. What is the point of a 'HANDS FREE' kit if you have to use your hands every few minutes to unlock the screen?

Hi Jarno,
Can you confirm if you need to unlock the screen before you can control the phone from your car kit?
For example if the screen is locked and a call comes in, can you answer it without touching the phone.
Also can you select a number and make a call from the car kit without first unlocking the phone?

I have spoken to Nokia regarding the problem I detail below, and have also been in communication with Vauxhall.
I am told that the OS version 8.0.10211.204 (Portico) eliminates some of the BT synchronization problems, but don't seem to be able to download it.
Nokia say that the OS and firmware versions in my phone are the current ones, and that they have not implemented the Portico updates. They said that the Blue Tooth (BT) version in the Lumia 920 is 'hands free 1.5'. They asked me to check with Vauxhall to see if this was the version within my Ampera, as if it was not then the BT would not work properly. Vauxhall have replied as follows:
Dear Mr Howarth
Further to my last email I have received further contact from our product representatives, regarding your Bluetooth enquiries.
They have advised that the Bluetooth protocol HFP1.5 is implemented in our UHP. Also, we know that Nokia has implemented this protocol in a different way and we are working with Nokia to get the problem fixed on their side.
Unfortunately this is all of the information we have at the moment, but I hope this helps to answer some of your concerns.
Kind regards
Angela Kelly

I have a 2012 X5 and have the same problem. It actually worked at one time but since an Microsoft update it no longer will connect. I can pair but the connection drops. I have had the 920 replaced twice. My wife can connect her iPhone without issue. Has anyone had a resolution?
