Hi,

I have a Nokia Lumia 920 and when I first got it I managed to sync it with Windows 8 x64 without a problem. Now when I connect it, it will charge but not connect to the "Windows Phone" app.

So far I have tried:

- Re-installing the Windows Phone app.

- Restarting the phone.

- Restarting the PC.

I am using the offical cable that came with my device.

Any other ideas?

Don't know about Windows 8 but on my Windows 7 32bit have similar problem (sometimes) .. Going to Device Manager..Right click on the Windows Phone Entry -->Properties-->Drivers-->Uninstall .. Then disconnect and re-connect the phone to PC. It starts installing the Drivers and once complete gets connected ..

Thanks farby, but I cannot locate a "Windows Phone" entry under device manager.

I have half a feeling that it might be my desktop's USB, but it works with everything else, external HDD's, pen drives, my wireless mouse.

Did you try expanding 'Other Devices' or 'Portable Devices' in the Device Manager for this to be visible?

In Windows 7 64-bit, I found the Windows Phone in Device Manager listed under Portable Devices

Thanks guys, but I only have "Backup" under portable devices and no listing for Other Devices.

Also, I get a device connected notification sound when connecting but nothing after that.

Thanks again, but that's not it either, I have had it plugged in for minutes at a time.

I've just tried it on a Windows Vista laptop and nothing happened when plugging it in except charging either.

I am beginning to think the cable or phone isn't working.

I have a spare cable from my wife's Lumia 820 and my HTC HD7, is it worth giving these a go?

Quick update, after "much" faffing I now have it where it connects and disconnects about 5 times and then gives up. The Windows Phone app suggests rebooting the phone, which does nothing.

I am following google on the this connect/disconnect problem which seems related to USB power. I will keep you posted.
