My Nokia Lumia 920 dies out of nowhere on its own. It just has a black screen and the power button doesn't do anything. To get it on I need to do a soft reset (Volume+Power buttons). What's weird is that I think its the stock charger... When I plug into my Lumia stock charger at night I wake up and the phone is dead, then I miss my alarm, and it shuts off throughout the day. But when I use the charger from my Galaxy Nexus, my phone doesn't die at all...

if you think its the stock charger return it to point of purchase and get it replaced,or visit a nokia care point.

Nokia care is fairly poor. They told me to remove the battery on my Lumia 920..

Nokia care would not tell you to remove a battery on a phone that cant be removed,is it an official nokia care centre?
if you have receipt try the store you purchased it from first.

an email from Nokia trying to help me with the issue. I'm not interested in exchanging the charger untill I know for sure ita the cause. And even then I doubt they'd exchange it.

Having said that some things need to be changed with such posts ive seen a few instances similar.
Well the best option is to even try another nokia charger first this will eliminate the problem.
I too use samsung charger at times and it works,my original charger is also fine.

Well I know many other users are having the issue of their phone being "dead". I would like to see what solution Nokia gives us.

Well from your post it seemed it was not charging?There is various hard reset methods not just what you said in OP

I never said it isn't charging... It just goes into a dead state where the power button does nothing and it needs a soft reset to turn on.

I've just had the same problem. Device did not respond to any actions, but PC saw its content while connected via cable. Soft reset and working again.
