My new Lumia 920 has, in the two days since purchase, twice shut down for no reason. The first time it happened about three hours after powering it up. The second time, this morning, it happened after being up and running for about 30 hours. I am unable to discern a cause. It just powers down of its own accord. Holding the power button to start it back up does nothing.
To power back up take the following steps:
Hold volume down button, power button, and the camera button down at the same time for approximately 10 seconds. The phone will vibrate at that point. Release the buttons and the boot up process should start. I've experienced no data loss or configuration settings change or loss from all this.
I hope Nokia will push a firmware update, I assume it's a firmware issue, ASAP.

Is your sim card new or have you had it a while?
Was it originally a micro sim or was it cut from a standard sim?
Personally i've yet to suffer any random reboots or shut downs on the 920 that i've had for a week now.

Did you try changing the Network setting from LTE (if selected) to 3G ?

How do you change the network setting from LTE to 3G? I am on ATT--I see no such option.

To turn off LTE check under Settings-->Mobile network-->Highest connection speed. Setting this to either 2G or 3G should disable LTE.

same issue. Followed the same troubleshooting that you did to no resolve. Nokia needs to fix.

Same happens here. My Lumia 920 shuts itself down at least once a day, which is really painful. Is there really no solution to it?

Mine does as well. Nearly every day for a month since I've owned it. Very embarrsing when showing iPhone users how great the phone is only to have manually reboot. Terrific phone but definitely could go without the "feature". Pleading for a firmware fix.

I know, it's a real pain. Has happened to me too that I was bragging about my Lumia and it was just dark. Even worse, at the time I didn't know how to soft reset ![]()

Seems most of you are not using nokia supplied charger. Try to use nokia power charger and see if it resolves this issue.
So what causing the phone to shut down if you use the original charger???? I have a Lumia 920 for about a month and experiencing the periodical shut down for at least 5 times now. Last time was today. Last time as I said because I am going back to my Samsung GS3. Thankfully I have kept it just in case :-) As I did the soft reset my battery is 100% so did not shut down because of lack of power in the battery.

nah, that's not it. I'm using the original charger and it still happens. Plus, the phone also shuts down when not on the charger - I doubt that it'll memorize what charger was used and then shut down because of that.
