Hi,
So my lumia 920 is 10 days old and Ive noticed a lot of dust under the glass of the FFC.
- I have read a lot of the posts here. Some people claim its the dust entering through the ear vent.
- I used a cannister of pressurised air onit today - and it indeed cleared all the dust out of the camera.
Where did the dust go? I read soemwhere that this blown out dust can wind up under the screen.. Really?
Could it also end up obstructing the proximity sensor and mess up calls (blanking screen out)?
Want to know what the experience of people in Singapore have been?
Thanks,

Dust? I think there is no way, no route for dust.

What use is a mobile phone that you have to keep out of your pockets?! If there is dust getting under the screen just because you keep your phone in your pocket, that is most definitely a manufacturing problem.

Him saying keep the phone away from your pockets or such is a nice way of saying the phone was built poorly because if it was built with nokias "signature" quality it wouldnt have all the battery, dust, sound, charging, auto brightness , camera issues it has.

hahaha...keep your mobile phone out of your pocket? This is what is considered a "fix"?
BTW...I LOVE my 920. After only a week...no regrets. But...I did have to blow the FFC out with a can of air. Luckily it worked and its cleared out. But saying that that is normal, and that the only way to keep it from happening is to not put it in your pocket is a joke!
There is no easy fix for this. It would require a rework of the area. So not something an average consumer is going to tackle anyway. You can actually see the gap right above the FFC lens. Between the glass and the frame.
My theory on this..is its done on purpose. Its a vent. When you put the phone up to your face, heat and moisture from your skin MIGHT effect the lens area and cause some fogging. So the vent is there to allow some airflow. Only problem is its allowing particles. A piece of felt or foam would have fixed this. Just my theory anyway...could just be way off. just cant imagine why else you'd leave a camera lens exposed.
Carry on.

Joey Your not in a position to make a snide remark this have been proven many times its fact that jeans and trouser pockets are a nasty environment for any phone.Unless you have something constructive to say i suggest you zip it.

Nobody is saying keep your phone out of your pocket, what is been said its a nasty environment, have you ever turned your pockets inside out and see the rubbish thats there?? Think again before you bark

Haha who's barking?
The suggestions about the pocket dirt implied that you should find another place to carry your cell phone, or risk getting dust in your phone's nooks and crannies. Correct? Something like a belt case, or more like dress pants/shirt pocket where you're less likely to find lint and crud.
But my point is...mobile phones are mean to be popped where ever its most convenient! Its always been that way. This is the first time Ive ever heard that my jean pocket is a hazardous place to carry my phone. While I understand why...Ive just never had a phone that was affected by it. My old WP never had an issue. Maybe some dust bunnies along the side, but certainly not behind any of the protected areas.
Just sayin... I love Nokia...my last WP was the only personal phone Ive EVER owned that wasnt a nokia. So I was slightly surprised to see a suggestion that my phone wasnt designed to resist some pocket lint. Since thats where Ive always kept em
Sorry if I offended!

There is no gap on my 920 and therefore no dust under the screen. Also, my phone is always carried in my pockets and I don't have a case on the phone.
You should have your phone looked at if there is a gap above the FFC.

Just to clarify...Here are the "gaps" Im seeing/referring to.
You can clearly see SOMETHING, gap or not, above the lens as well as the proximity sensor. Please excuse the ear gunk lines coming from my ear piece haha. I had the good camera out for a minute and snapped a couple quickies.
Ah...doesnt support [IMG]. Here are the links.

And Im not saying 100% thats where dust is getting in. Just something I observed when drooling over my phone and checking out the details.
Could just be the spaces reflecting to the glass edge.

Seems to be alot of particles in general on these pics maybe reflections i will upload my two now
There is only the earpiece the mic and headphone socket where it could get in.

Yeah my camera picks up on stuff you cant even see with your eyes. Thought I had it pretty clean. Some of what you see is dust, some is just reflections.
I cant say for sure, but in your pics its hard to even see the prox sensor...the yellow is glaring pretty hard, which could be hiding what you see in my pics.
However if you cant see them with your naked eye...then maybe they just arent there. I might take a ride back to att just for giggles to see if I can see the same thing.
I wont be exchanging regardless. Everything else on my phone is fantastic! More for curiosity.
