MP3 playing error, Lumia 920

Hello,

Hoping you could please assist, I cannot find any information about this error, is it just my phone?  I have copied accross mp3 files and some won't play due to an error: "sorry we can't play this file on your phone error code 80070003".

As far as I can tell it's not a format thing, because other mp3's play.  The file that won't play are anwhere from 4MB or over.

Roughly 1/3rd of my files won't play.  The phone storage is about half full.

Is anyone else experiencing this and have you found a fix?

Many thanks

In my case it's totally random. Sometimes I get that error but if I try and play the same song again, it will. I also experience audio glitches when I play songs on repeat.

Re: MP3 playing error, Lumia 920

I have no issues with playing MP3's that are over 4MB in size on my 920, i have a lot that are in the 10-15MB range. Sometimes when you play an album it comes up with the same error, then proceeds to play the file anyway. There were some audio glitches initially, but most of them appear to be fixed and even though the equaliser and Dolby Headphone settings are forgotten and pushed all over the place at times, this now happens about 1 or 2 times out of 10 compared to the 7 or 8 times out of 10 before. I think they were fixed with the Extras + Info update that Nokia pushed out a couple of weeks ago.

You can either try updating the Nokia core apps that are described here: http://discussions.nokia.com/t5/Pool-of-Knowledge/Nokia-Windows-Phone-8-App-Updates/m-p/1640082#M242 and see how you go.

If the problems still occur, i would suggest performing a soft reset (pressing the volume down and power buttons together until the phone vibrates), or if that doesn't work, a hard reset (Settings > About > Reset your phone). Remember to perform a backup of your personal data to your PC / SkyDrive or equivalent online service.

Failing that, you will need to take your phone back to your point of purchase, and if they are being less than helpful, take your phone to your local Nokia Care point for them to inspect: http://nokia.com/support

Re: MP3 playing error, Lumia 920

Hi guy's :smileyhappy:

not all .mp3 files are the same, I'd recommend getting a convertor and trying to convert the ones that aren't working

you'll be able to Google what the differences are to see what I mean and if you're "borrowing" the files from some 'pirate bay' type website, you could be downloading a .PAC file in a zip on .mp3 suit.
there could be some hidden DRM involved too :smileyhappy:

Re: MP3 playing error, Lumia 920

Hello, Ive had 2 problems that are in this category, first I was able to sync all my songs and they all played, but the sound was always stuck at 10, (a soft reset solved the issue). I didn't want to soft reset my phone every time I synced so ATT gave me a replacement.
Problem no 2 no volume issues, but now I can not sync, and only a 3rd of my music actually copies or plays. I get a error that the file cant be played or when copying I get a prompt that the files have stopped working. ATT is sending me a replacement.

Re: MP3 playing error, Lumia 920

Where did you download those songs? You have to make sure those mp3 files are DRM-free as it may be the reason why you can only copy and play a handful of music in your device.

Also note that if the PC prompts that you may not be able to play the file on the phone & need to convert it then Do convert & play as copying directly will not work.

Re: MP3 playing error, Lumia 920

Can anyone help, I added all my existing songs from my iTunes account to wmp11 so that I could put them on my lumia 920, that went fairly well, not all songs loaded and there was issues with albums not being recognised etc. but the main problem is that when I try to play these files via a 3.5mm cable from the headphone output to either my speaker input at home or the 3.5mm input in my car the files play but you can barely hear them even with all volumes turned up full !

i can hear output from YouTube videos etc so I know it's not the headphone jack being faulty etc.
