Hi,

I am planning to buy a new smartphone in the new year. So I decided to go for Nokia Lumia series Phones.

So I have only two points to confirm.

If I buy Lumia 510 or 620. Will they

1) alert me instantly  if I get a email?

2) Alert when some ping me on gtalk or Msn ?

3) Can I use Lync messenger?

Please If anybody can give answers to them so that I my confusion will go off.

AFAIK, yes to all of the above. I have a 920 and the Windows Phone platform lets me know right away when I have received an email. Not sure about MSN but as it is a Microsoft service I would expect it would, and same for Lync as the Microsoft Office suite is fully supported on devices.

I've just got a Lumia 620 and have to say that the only problem I have with the phone is that email notifications aren't coming through instantly. Previously I was using an iPhone 3GS and my Exchange mail would always come up within a few seconds of sending, not so with the Lumia. The Lumia is set to receive email as they arrive but it's just not working -tried everything but no joy! Really disppointed aseverything else is great :-(

Email feting intervals can be set up in the mail settings. I know that on my phone for my main account I get a notification instantly on arriving mail.

I have my main account set up to get mail 'as it arrives'
